Hi this is a post regarding the nerf that swarms received in 1.7. Damage to swarms was reduced and their range reduced. I believe this was to allow vehicles to live longer and probably not Get shot down while calling them in. Some very difficult problems have come from this.
Many whine about it but that does not mean it is not true. I main proto swarms and the change is black to white. The range nerf is just too much. Tanks with normal speed, not The nitro boost, can outrun swarms across the map.
To balance out this nerf I propose that swarms be the only Weapon that can bypass hardeners. That hardeners will Have zero damage reduction on current swarm damage. Not the old swarm damage, 1.7 swarm damage and range.
I can deal with the new damage and range if swarms if they can Bypass hardeners but with tanks current speed plus hardeners Swarms are very very useless. I wish ccp would half the range On assault rifles and reduce their damage, then many players Could see how much swarms were nerfed.

Basic swarm launcher: No lock on needed, line of sight ONLY, short range, extremely fast, low damage, quick reload, fires one rocket at a time, large ammo capacity. Advanced swarm launcher: Lock on needed, medium range, same speed as swarms now, multi-missles with different variations (longer lock on time but more damage or longer range, ect. ect.) Prototype: lock on needed, long range, fires one missle at a time, long reload, high damage, "ALMOST" fire n forget (when fired missle will quickly gain altitude and come down directly upon target. Only way to escape missle is to find cover to hide under). Ill leave lock on times, range and damage up to CCP |

I'll some quick math to tell you why this is a no go, at least for armor.
6 missiles at 220 damage = 1320 Plus prof 3 and at least 1 damage mod makes it 1531.
Plus 20% to armor... 1837.
So you really think that your three hits from your 28K swarms should kill a tank? lolno. The issue isn't the current real tankers, it's the scrubs calling out somas over and over again.
