So I don't post much or often, but I read frequently... And I had a brainstorm. What if Swarm Launchers were a sidearm rather than a main slot? Now bear with me and hear my rationale.
Swarm Launchers have lost a significant amount of effectiveness both in lock on range and damage. To be an AV Swarm Launcher as it is now, you have to sacrifice most of you ability to kill infantry. If Swarm Launchers do so much less damage now, why not make the trade off less too. A tank is immune to both AR and SMG fire, so it's no different for them. Effective AV still requires teamwork. But now the AV guy still maintains a most (but not all) of their ability to defend themselves against infantry.
Anyways, just a random thought. |

They should be an equipment slot rather than a sidearm. They are so situational now that they might as well be equipment. |

Hehe 'go commando'. Yay for wordplay.
I'm not asking to do everything at once. I think he general consensus is that new Swarm Launchers are less effective and require greater teamwork. Ok. Fine. But why make it require teamwork and castration? Why make it 'cost' the same to the infantry? |

the smg is a beast, and in a 1v1 is more than good enough to get the job done, how about just playing like you only have a side arm available, and just avoid blobs of reds
swarms took a well needed range nerf, no more camping them towers restricting tank play for the whole map, you might want to invest in a lav and actually hit the battlefield and get your hands dirty now
And for the record, i have proto swarms , prof 2, with two complex dmg mods, and im having no trouble taking tanks out, heres a hint.... save your ammo for when they stop flashing \ lighting up

Oh well. Didn't take long for the implications that as someone that can use a swarm launcher that can't get my hands dirty. . For the record, I'm a scout and when I did go AV I would get very close to the tank to try to help kill it (AV nades and no minimum range on Swarms).
And, for the record, I have proto SMG and proto AR. I know the value of each. If they are of equal footing then why object...
I simply had an observation that the value of the Swarm Launcher has gone down but the cost to the infantry, both in isk, and in survivability, have remained unchanged. It seemed at least a possible counter to the often argument that AVrs state that they can't protect themselves, while changing little of the AV vs Tank dynamic.

Everyone could have a swarm as a sidearm, so yeah, that would have a severe effect on the tank vs AV dynamic.
As previously said, there is a suit just for that, go and use it.
