1. Can't snipe from the obelisks (aka shark fins) anymore. They were changed so you slide right off the slanted angle now. This was my main Thale's sniping spot for PC. In general this means more snipers will be in less useful more predictable places for public matches.
sidenote: You can still get up there to snipe but you're hanging off the bottom edge of it where they failed to retexture with that no stick coating. You're completely exposed and can't even move if you're being shot at.
2. AV grenades were downgraded, combined with drop ship hit points being upgraded. It now takes 4 standard, 3 advanced, or 3 prototype AV grenades to kill a militia drop ship. Where as before it would only take 2. Meaning it's way easier to harass and successfully land next to a sniper on a tower who is using AV as a defense.
3.Everyone got hit by this one, but the shield extender -7% recharge delay. Meaning if I do get shot I have to hide even longer for health to regenerate. Slowing the game down.
4.The health gauge information display was shifted to the right instead of directly below your crosshair. It's really awkward having to shift your eyes down and to the right as opposed to just down and back up.
5. Little or no indication if you successfully hit someone with your sniper rifle, there's no sound upon hit, and often the hitmarker won't appear. Meaning you don't know if you need to line up a second shot if they're close to cover, because you don't know if they're half way dead.. or not. |

it never fails to amaze me that people give ill considered advice to players that decide to snipe like "come into the main area with a covenant rifle" great idea only then I can't spot for my team, or support them, or try to cover the approach to objectives. ok you might be able to counter snipe well, you must be the best sniper new eden has ever seen... but I do wonder how you would feel trying to use that same rifle against proto sentinel suits with complex armour plating. any dedicated sniper (by which I mean a player who snipes as their main role such as myself) because they enjoy playing that role will say that snipers in this game are being nerfed with every new update. ok, You say all snipers are cowards who only do it so they don't get killed but then I suppose All tankers are similar as they cant be killed without a.v., and I guess that proto heavies cant be that far away from a similar opinion, and I suppose that stealth scouts aren't a valid choice as they don't get scanned, lets all just run around with assault suits and rail rifles. what a fun game that will be.
the point here is that different people like different techniques, and the idea behind an mmo is to get a lot of people playing together, so if there should be options in the game such as sniping and if those options are staying in the game then ccp should be taking a neutral approach and designing things with all players in mind, keeping things balanced.
it's a real shame because dust 514 has the best social gameplay I've seen and they just keep making it worse.
Also notice the lack of comments from ccp on sniper threads? and i'd bet you still don't see a problem. |
