It means tanks have more of a "shock trooper" role. Come in, do massive damage, and leave for a minute of whatever. If you have a proto AV squad keeping watch it'll probably be pretty reasonable to kill these tanks but otherwise, if left uncontested, these things will be able to do good damage again! (which is what they wanted I believe).
Ill have to reserve judgement on this one, it really depends how easy they are to destroy, to add high speed to a unit that already has so many advantages against infantry it has to have something else lowered to be balanced.
If this becomes the game of troll tank 514, where they role in, blow the **** out if everyone and leave, this **** is going to get real old real fast. |

Someone's been drinking the tank coolant too often. Neither vehicles or AV are supposed to have an empirical advantage.
If so a squad with just two tanks on the field would already have 12.5% more equivalent infantry on the ground, vehicles are not a replacement for teamwork. Because of this, one tank should be a me to take out one AV guy and vice versa. |

A tank IS an advantage, you get in a tank to gain a slaying advantage, its not a tin can mate, the whole point of a tank is so your side gains an advantage, you don't bring a tank onto the field because theres no advantage do you lol Its a tank ffs and my point still stands as you can clearly tell from the game and reality.
It's been said before it'll be said again, this game is risk vs reward, tanks are a game changer without the appropriate counter on the field, and while tanks are literally superior ok every way to infantry, av is not. To allow for fun competitive play, bringing out tanks can't be considered a "win button" I don't give a **** how much your tank costs, it doesn't make sense that one side requires teamwork and the other requires none.
Also don't bring realism into this argument, not only does it not have a place in dust, it also only leads you to being wrong. One Javelin can take out a tank. Mini-guns are accurate to 600m, and mass drivers equivalent the m203, has a 15ft KILL radius per shot.

(which is what they wanted I believe). AV squads are the easiest units to kill in the game, they lack tank, speed and stealth. One guy with a Militia AR and you can take half of them out no problem. I've gone slaying with a swarm+SMG fit. Don't give me the ''AV Players are defenseless'' crap. If they can't defend themselves with an SMG, that their fault.
SMGs are awesome, until you get riddled at 60 meters by an assault rifle or SCR. Good luck killing anyone of equivalent gear at that range. Also wasting the time to shoot them can easily allow vehicles to escape, now more than ever. |

So here is balance.
Assaults were scissors, AV were paper, and Vehicles were rocks Some leniency as paper could sometimes defeat scissors, rocks could occasionally beat paper.
Until rock reached patch 1.7 and became an unstoppable killing machine.
