I can see why CCP doesn't like BPO's ...
You planning to switch to Forge Guns for 1.7 or are you going to be staying faithful to Swarms?

Yep, sounds like a lot to cut it in more than half, but most people don't realize how FAR 175 meters is. I'm more concerned about the damage nerf. But we will adapt. I just may have to invite a partner on my Safaris moving forward. |

I'll stick with swarms until it doesn't work. I don't think tanks will be harder to kill if they are engaged correctly. |

Well that's the thing, the best way to kill tanks has always been getting up close with AV grenades and then finishing them off with the swarm as they retreat. That tactic is largely unchanged, it's just going to be harder because the damage is lower. If anything the range nerf to swarms is more to buff Dropships and LAVs if anything.
Honestly the direction they're going seems to be an attempt to make Heavies with forge guns THE AV class, whereas light AV weapons are more of a deterrent and less of a vehicle slaying class, at least for HAVs. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, as it makes heavies have a more distinctive role.

I totally appreciate that sort of attitude to that situation, it's a bit refreshing in a forum environment of doom and gloom over any tweak to any system. Good on you.

I feel like the Swarm Damage nerf puts them in line with new values for Tanks, 330 a shot vs. 220 a shot represents a nerf of 33% to damage A Madrugar with 7800 total HP (6600ish armor, 1200 shields) compared with a 2 Hardener 1 Rep Madrugar in 1.7 (I doubt people will be running plates) with 5200 total HP (4000 armor, 1200 shields) represents a nerf of 33% to overall HP. And that's discounting the decidedly less effective reps, the reliance on ammo, and much higher reliance on modules to be effective. Given what we know of Swarmer v. Tank tactics (drive up close, chuck grenades, finish off with swarms) I really don't see how the Range nerf is going to be THAT detrimental to their effectiveness.

Its a good vid but I couldent help but notice it was full of soma and sica kills with the odd maddy and gunlogi. Would be much more impressive if you wernt using adv av against mlt havss.

For the record, the only three kills where I was in proto gear where from one (the same) game. All the others were in either STD or ADV gear.
I didn't pick which tanks they chose to call in :)

AV is still top dog.
