What are your thoughts on this idea?

Ya, ya, ya, I can already hear it "bla bla bla EVE bla bla bla".

Which is why I said this would be selectable. That way people like you can do what you want and people like me can, well...

Lore is something that is created. Let me demonstrate:

And there you go, the lore has now been amended, all is right in the universe again.

Thanks to discoveries made by the Amarr empire within wormhole space, the Sleeper implant was discovered which allowed the existence of clone soldiers, allowing the instant transfer of consciousness at the moment of death, unlike the capsule cloning technology.
The example you gave is not creating lore. That is making excuses and handwaving unrealistic settings in favor of your own ideas. And officially, all lore is created by CCP, at least the important parts about ship functions, modules and other that kind of stuff. If CCP says you can't put shields underneath the armor, then you can't put shields under the armor, and there's no way of going around that until CCP says otherwise.
And I agree with the other people here, it doesn't make sense and violates lore.

It's actually more of like a seven. You see, the fingers are snapped three times and the zee figure actually has a starting point two braking points and an end point. The seven, on the other hand, has a staring point, a single breaking poin... Oh god why am I explaining this... *facepalm of shame and self loathing*

I don't see why not, it sounds like an interesting idea (and forget those who say it doesn't make sense). My only question is why you'd do this an as armor tanker. In my opinion, it would be better for a shield tanker since he'd then have a little buffer for his main tanking type.

You make a choice when you choose to shield or armor tank, and that choice is whether you want to have quickly regenerating 'burst' tanking or if you want to have slowly regenerating 'endurace' tanking (with small bursts of quickly replenished shields). Choices have consequences. Fast regeneration but quick deaths when through your 'hp' or slow regeneration but massive hp totals.
This is how it is I've yet to see a single convincing argument for this, it's mostly just people whining 'I want it my way' or 'diversity for diversities sake!!!!!!' |

A biokinetic field underneath armor might actually be a viable option.
Charge the surface of a living organism with nanomachines, which can cause bioelectric pulses to fuel the creation of a field that supplements the stability of armor from the inside.
Yes that sounds possible for EVE.

All you nerds spouting off about lore are silly. Let's talk about the 'lore' of having spaceships that are actually submarines flying in space that behaves like water.
CCP could write some jank about a whatever device and suddenly, it works. That said, I'm curious about OP's reasons for wanting armor to take damage before shields. I'd want it because shield tankers have a "hull layer" as it were in their suit's armor HP and armor lovers do not. |
