If you armor tank and find yourself dying a ton by the combat rifle, please don't complain about it being OP. It does 20% more damage to armor than an AR and 30% more damage to armor than the scrambler.
Just keep that in mind before you post on here about how OP the combat rifle is just because 90% of your health is armor.

Step 2: Apply a liberal dose of projectile and explosive weaponry.

Enjoy the depleted shield regen penalty while my CR burns you down. Hopefully the new rifles bring the shield v armor tank pendulum back to the middle and are the reason for the shield nerf. |

Another one of these "prediction" threads. Shield users complain aswell that massdrivers do to much damage against them. And last ime ive checked the devs say that they do 20% less damage against shields.

Actually, they said that explosives were 'bugged into doing more damage than intended.' When I look at something with armor, it says 135%, so I assume that shields probably got 95%. With the patch fixing this bug, it'll go down to 120% and 80%... so shieldy guys are/were right, and so are you and the DEVs or at least you will be.

No, I'm wrong, was going off the old parameters and assuming they hadn't fixed the explosives. Though you aren't wrong DJ :p

That'd be ass-backwards. Use the longer range anti armor weapon to plink away at their shield, then they get in range of your shorter, anti-shield weapon once they have nothing but armor :p
You would want a Scrambler and a CR or RR if you wanted to combo them.

I didn't even know about that glitch until 1.6, and by that time I moved away from the regular one and now use the Assault Scrambler Rifle.
Also, no. I don't purposely overheat my weapon when I'm fighting other players just to abuse a glitch that removes my sprint function, ADS, and reload just so that I can keep firing. Maybe in self defense, but know that ever since I found out about it I have been supporting a bug fix of the problem.

I said it is 20% more damage to armor than the AR, I never said anything aout shields.
It would be 15% less damaging to shields than an AR, but when 90% of a person's health is armor, shields don't matter.

Not sure how the combat rifle is going to be in terms of balance until I get my hands on it. But I have a feeling the rail rifle is either going to be underpowered or breach AR OP, one or the other. I'm terrified of this thing and I shield tank.

Nah, I'm not forgetting about it, only the CR should be overall more effective as it does only -5% to shields, while the Rail does -10%. (of course I'm not including DPS in that calculations ;)
Frankly I'd rather have all the weapon drawbacks bigger with the buffs staying the same, so if you choose the wrong weapon you would do almost nothing to the other form of tank (like for the AR +10 shields and -20% to armour, rail -20% shields an +10% armour). But that's just a stupid idea from my side ;) |

Have you read the description of the Combat Rifle, its widely used by many military units New Eden wide, cheap and easy to maintain, and more importantly going to be a good PDF weapon if I ever have to get out of my tank.....unfortunately no amarrian tanks yet.

Um, I'm pretty sure I said COMPARED TO THE AR, it will do 20% more damage to armor. AR does -10% to armor, combat rifle will do +10% damage...so a 20% difference.
I know that projectile weapons do -5% to shields and +10% damage to armor.

it wont be OP,just boaderline mediocre, burstfire weapons dont have a good track record in video games at least the ones iv played.The full auto variant may be worth looking at but have my fingers crossed.

I might try this too :P
I wonder which one I should make assault...the combat rifle or the scrambler rifle (assault variant that is). That way I always have a good CQC weapon. Maybe CR as a finishing weapon that's good against armor like the SMG.

Well honestly compared to the current AR ALL of the new Rifles (and the adjusted old ones) will be OP. CCP fixed the AR by introducing even more OP weapons....
