Not being in a PC corp myself I can't speak from direct experience, but from what I've read in the various protostomping threads a lot of PC corps are pretty much swimming in ISK. This is bad for a couple of reasons: first, it leads to more protostomping which can discourage newer players, and second, once you've got more ISK than you can spend there's no much less motivation to compete for more.
Assuming my assumptions are true (argh, logic loop), maybe PC should reduce the ISK rewards a bit and give something else instead. I was thinking about something like "Molden Heath Investment Credits".
MHIC would be earned from doing well in PC, either as part of the payment for selling clones, or through holding districts. Maybe there would be a new kind of surface infrastructure that generates them. Once earned, these MHIC can be redeemed with an NPC corp (Molden Heath Investment Authority) to build massive structures/buildings on planets.
These structures would be created outside of the playable battlefields, so we can't interact with them, but would be visible from the battlefield like the crashed Titan was in the Caldari Prime event. They would start out relatively small and get bigger as you spend more MHIC, but the cost would increase exponentially as they do. Truly massive structures would require winning thousands of battles, or holding multiple districts for many months. They would be pure vanity items, eventually towering over the battlefield inspiring much awe.
There would have to be a way of seeing who has what structures (and how expensive they were) outside of battles as well, for bragging rights. Also, the news section on Dust514.com (and maybe also community.eveonline.com) could include articles whenever someone reaches a new threshold; the first time a corp creates a 10km high structure, for example.

Level 1, Civic Center 100m high, barely visible. Looks cool though. Requires 100 MHIC (1 MHIC earnt per district per day)

Quote: Other then that: PC is seen by many as the 'end game' of dust, or a massive pain in the ass, where you fight the best of the best as a former PC player I can tell you these matches can get extremely nasty and costly so the high payout helps corps pay back their members, or that's what STB does anyway.
I have no desire to make it unprofitable. You have to cover costs, absolutely.
Quote: Not only that but why the hell would a PC corp work their immortal rears off, risking EvE ships for OBs, and generally deal with the horrendous lag for a 'vanity item'.
For the same reason that people play sports for trophies.
Once you have more ISK than you can spend you will keep trying to get more, but now just for bragging rights. Your ISK will have become a vanity item.
There's a fundamental game design dilemma with PC rewards. You have to reward people for success. If you give rewards that make people more competitive then you build in positive feedback and unbalance the game; the best get better, the worst get worse. With PC in Dust specifically, you want "massive" rewards, but ISK doesn't work well because ISK is also important outside PC where rewards should not be as massive. That creates a massive divide between PC and non-PC players.

Sinboto Simmons wrote:Ya kinda meant to be that way I think, PC is as I said the end game, In which you're fighting the best of a corporation, of the best of an alliance, of the best of a coalition, usually at 12-4 at night, This is taxing as all hell an the players that participate.
If this served some purpose I could agree with slightly less isk income, but as you suggest it's nothing but a waste of time and a kick in the ass. Can we separate this out into two topics then?
1. Do top-end PC corps end up having more ISK than they know how to spend?
2. Would vanity rewards provide any additional incentive, assuming we aren't reducing ISK rewards?

OK, cool.
So comes down to how balancing removal of excess ISK (assuming there is any). Any support for PC that is lost by removal of excess ISK would have to be balanced by an increase in support for PC from vanity items such as this.

Takron Nistrom wrote:You all sound like the money is only spendable in Dust. Do you know how much expensive fun crap there is to buy in EvE? Now we get into really interesting territory. Once Dust corps start playing in the Eve markets (financing Titans?) then the gap between them and the regular 200K/match pub players becomes truly massive. When you have a few billion ISK in the bank, why would you not roll into every battle in a fully specced proto tank (or whatever the super-expensive FOTM is)?
I can't see that ending well.
I'd imagine either a massive PC corp nerf at some point, or the non-PC players demanding that CCP exclude PC corp members from public and FW battles.
