I just want to let you know that some of my friends don't own a PS3 but a PS4, and that they desperately want to play Dust. Good Day. My EVE pilot have more ISK then your peon corp.

I'm talking about my friends, no one ever visit this forums and cry about the end of Dust514 by the release of the PS4 or other FPS. They never owned a PS3. Some have seen Dust (I showed them) and now they want to have it. They are not going to buy a PS3 even if they are extremely good game out there. It's very simple. You could call them the new player marked. What they did is making a account via browser and I showed them the characters they now own. (to teas them a little ;)) My EVE pilot have more ISK then your peon corp.

They forgot there are barely any games out for the PS4 now. And I'm sure CCP knows that sooner or later they will have to port the whole thing to the PS4 (and I'm pretty sure they are really excited about this. But maybe the UE3 helps with that). The thing is: At the moment this wouldn't do the game any good. It would just make the patch cycle a lot longer. So I call 2018. Not earlier. After all the devs originally planned what they want to add to the game for a span of 5 years.

As a PS4 owner i see it this way, yes the next gen games are awesome and its nice to have a system that can run games at a steady 60 Frames at 1080p, but unlike myself alot of my friends and Corp buddies don't have a PS4 (Mostly because there sold out everywhere), hell on my 100 person friend list only around 4-5 people have a PS4. With all that said even with all the bugs and glitches and neglect (for scouts) i have to say dust is a game i can see going places and is a game i can truly say i love to play. I personally think CCP should be focusing on getting a version out on PS4 no later than Fanfest. That leaves them being the last free to play (the ones confirmed) to enter onto the PS4, with so far the fairest business model i've seen so far. Not only that it will have its own niche in the market by being closer to BF in its gameplay, where as Planetside 2 will be its own beast. and blacklight can almost be compared to COD in alot of sense, with its fast arcade gameplay.

The most of this familiar to me are PC gamers without console experience. They no longer will invest a ridiculous amount of money in gearing up the PCs and some are sick and tired of all this Steam/origin/Ubisoft and so on lobbyists. Where you have DRM, Shop-Launcher spying on your PC and so on. Some (or even the most of them) where expecting to play PS3 games on a PS4. Well, I'm not going to say PC gamer a dumb, I (for example) will always own more then one system, but they haven't hat a console since SNES (still my favorite btw). Gaikai operations are started in mid 2014 (stream games to any console). CCP have had discussions with Gaikai. I believe CCP is very good because of their openness to technical innovations (like Gaikai). We will probably see dust 514 streamed in 720p when the game is working all right and balance has been achieved. KDR > ALL ME > KDR ME > ALL

XBOX was turned down because of business-related issues involving server control (or so I've heard). With PSN plus going the same way as XBOX Live on so many issues I think that its less about CCP just saying "no, we don't want to" and more about "no, we can't" and still run Dust through Tranquility. Speculation, but I think that even if they wanted to there might be some greater technical issues that would be coming along with that next-gen package. I have hopes for a Steam Box port before a PS4 port myself (unless my concerns about the technology are completely off base), but a PC port seems to be the easiest route once PS3s start breaking down. Here's hoping I'm wrong, tho.

I have absolutely no idea how it looks from the server side. But I'm working as a server admin for my living, and just from my experience I can tell you that NOTHING is impossible. The server only receive information (for example position coordinates) and all he does is calculation the information (not the other stuff like graphics) and sending them back. You don't need a PS Plus Account for free to play games. And if I'm not wrong you don't need PS Plus for online gaming when the servers are hostet from some one else but not Sony.
