Coming from halo reach, I know what it is like to deal with kick happy retards. One accidental team kill, and you're gone half a second later. They won't even read the button, or think about what their decision will cause. They will just press the button and continue playing without think about they have done. Allowing the forgiveness button to be pressed first before the punishment button could help fix that problem. If they really wanted to punish you, they could wait 5 seconds to do so, or they could immediately press the forgiveness button and keep playing.

What button? Am I missing something?
There will be no vote kick/forgiveness system under player control that i'm aware of.
Nevermind. Found it.

Now that my derp is dealt with.
Making "forgive" the default option should suffice. Cooldowns could delay respawn if a fixed part in the chain of interactions and distract from the first, often crucial seconds after respawn if independant from the respawn process. Punishing a TKer should not come with additional nuisance.

If you do nothing, the default option is to forgive. The punish button appears once the kill screen is displayed.

Would be awesome if that "Your failure to comply has been noted and saved to your record" actually held weight to it and stopped players from AFK Farming for a certain amount of time in FW after getting enough demerits.
@_@ Would really change the game since we can kill friendlies. All it takes is someone not paying attention and getting shot and then being sent back to deployment mode where they will get kicked no matter what trickery they use, if they don't deploy.
I'd go out on a limb and suggest it but I wanna see how FF works first.

That's the problem, they will instantly press the punishment button without actually considering what it will do. Locking the punishment button for 5 seconds can help stop that from happening. Give the idiot a moment to think before he does something stupid, and maybe even give the team killer a chance to say sorry.

The patch is content locked - it can't be changed. Let's just be patient and see what actually happens. You might be right, but you may also be wrong.

And presumably it's a different button from the respawn button. Hence them having to 'do something' in order to punish you.

This! It's a simple "human factors" thing. In MS windows or in explorer whenever you are browsing if a window pops up most people just click on "OK" and keep going because they don't care and want to get to the thing they came there for. In this case if you die you wanna get back in and try to stop the red dot from hacking your CRU or shooting your uplink, so you click the damn annoying button that popped up in your way and try to spawn back in as fast as you can... By defaulting it to "PUNISH" you have just increased the grief your system will cause to everyone. You instead need to default the button to "FORGIVE" and have the option for concerned players to choose "PUNISH" as a CONSCIOUS EFFORT.

Good news Jadd! As Nullarbor stated explicitly earlier in the thread, the default is forgiveness and punishment requires a conscious effort. Exactly what you want.
As for the fact of unintentional sloppy aiming getting people kicked from the match because most players choose to punish anyway, I believe we are all familiar with the phrase:

I assume you mean "can't" and that's DB's point. Don't fire your MD into a hallway full of blues or it's your problem if an "accident" happens and someone didn't like that.

I believe the phrase is intentionally misspelled GET GUD, but I am probably mistaken. It is funny about all this FF sadness though, I do wish people would think about it first.
What about my nades! Why are you throwing high explosives at an ally in the first place, to steal his kill?
