This is why I play FW, so no one is getting stomped by me. I have my Core Skills maxxed, and don't find killing newcomers... over... and over... and over very fun. I like the matches where my enemies have a chance.
That said, I took my knocks, like everyone here, even killed proto heavies with a shotty scout for a while. But it's just rediculous that this is the meta-game: kill newberries in hi-sec with the highest level gear. Ugh. Keep it in lo-sec, please.

Zahle Undt wrote:The greatest myth about protostomping is that it is the gear that makes the difference when in fact it is the fact that many people (myself included) only run proto when with squads of corp or alliance mates. it is the organized squads that make the difference not the gear so much. Also, most people I know that have proto gear also have their core skills and weapon skills maxed, simply put we are higher level in this game because we have been playing it longer...welcome to an RPG hybrid. The final myth is that proto gear is godly compared to everything else, this is a fallacy in many cases, I know my assault Mk. 0 has about a whole 100 more EHP than my advanced suit and a Ishukone SMG over the advanced assault SMG. Slight advantages but hardly worth all the tears and whining on these forums.
Proto gear is just the easiest excuse why one loses instead of the real culprits of a better team on the other side, better team work (I.E. they're squaded and I wasn't), or actually admitting that (GASP) someone is better at the game than me.
And before anyone gets mad at me I rarely use proto in pubs because I am a cheap S.O.B. and I am average at best at Dust despite being a closed beta vet. Oh and back in closed beta we used to get stomped on by Imperfect squads every other match because it was a tighter knit community with fewer corps etc....
I understand this, but that doesn't mean it's not a problem. Keep proto gear out of pubs, that's all I'm asking. I avoid public matches so that I CAN use proto without feeling guilty, or because of this. Trust me, I'm not crying for myself, but the newcomers. I love RPGs, but a lot of people are used to FPS, not RPG.
