I see 2 pro being people will stop complaining and join the fotm crowd and it will help pay for keeping this piece of crap that is called an mmofps afloat for a little while longer I can give you one proper argument on how respecs will unbalance the game. METRICS CCP relies on the constant stream of data to determine which weapons to balance out with either a buff or a nerf. We have already seen first hand what happens when too many people spec into one thing. Heavies come to mind and those heavy players who have been here since closed beta will confirm it for you. Back then heavies reigned supreme and thus almost everyone specced into them. As a result, after so much QQ in the forums about it, the heavies got nerfed... big time. So much nerfed that they became useless for almost an entire year until early last month. Laser Rifles became the next victim and even the tanks. Now the ARs are in the cross hairs and the Logibros are raging over the possible removal of the light weapon slot because people kept complaining that too many logis are acting like assaults. As you can see, when too many people spec into one thing, it can skew the data for CCP to rely on. Paid Respecs will just add to the problem when almost everyone pays their way into speccing into the next flavor of the month. Seemingly "ok" weapons become seemingly "OP" and seeming "UP" weapons get "overbuffed" instead while the seemingly "OP" weapons get "overnerfed". This will just further hinder CCP's ability to properly see which weapon is actually OP and which ones are actually balanced.
This isn't a respec problem it's a game balancing problem. If the games balanced respecs won't be such a big deal. Respecs would be more helpful to this dying game then it would hurt. Remember this is playing on a soon to be obsolete system, it needs all the life infused into that it can get. |

I'm not sure if Atiim described it well, but I can say this...
Militia suits in the hands of skilled veterans will wreck Proto AUR suits any day.
Skill always beats suit. That's not the argument at hand. |

Respecs go against the NEw Eden vibe. You made your bed, now sleep in it.
That said, we weren't given a mattress or a comforter, so it sucks to sleep in. After they release the mattress and the pillow, then give us a respec so I can get those too, since I wanted them in the beginning.
Likewise, we don't even have half of the racial suits yet, let alone weapons. Once all racial content has been released, give us a one time respec to get into what we wanted to get into in the first place. |

By that logic then you don't need respecs. Just add the following if you want more "life" in this game for more people to go into.
1. Introduce secondary market. Confirmed by CCP 2. Overhaul Factional Warfare. Confirmed by CCP 3. Overhaul Planetary Conquest. Soon(tm) by CCP 4. Introduce Racial Symmetry for weapons, vehicles, and dropsuits. * 5. Enhance the connectivity between Eve Online and Dust 514. 6. Give us MTACs (Mechanized Torso-Actuated Chassis - Mechs for short). Part of CCP's roadmap. 7. Introduce PvE missions. etc.
* - This is the only time I would ever support a respec when CCP finally introduces all of the racial variants of everything else. Even then, it's a only a one-time thing.
Besides the vast majority of the players that I see here after observing seem more interesting in actual content than respecs. What's the point in getting a respec if there is no new content to back it up? That's like giving you the option to switch between hats but you only have two hats to try on and you're still waiting on 100 other hats to arrive.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

One more thing to clear up here. You said that you have skill books that you don't use. But that doesn't make them useless in my eyes. I have skill points invested in swarm launchers which I hardly even use nowadays but I don't see them as useless. Once everything becomes balanced, then that seemingly "useless" skill book might become useful for you in the long run.

And the AUR gear only allows you to use STD gear, which anyone can invest into with about 3 matches worth of SP; or gear of a higher tier, which is only serving as an early access pass or a way to save ISK.
This game is pay to get ahead, but it is not p2w. Anything besides boosters that you buy with AUR can be payed for in ISK with an amount of time investment and SP.
Plus, I'd rather just use imaginary space currency than my own real life wallet to restock my fittings. (Unless you live in Iceland. ISK there is the "real deal")
LOL you just described the exact essence of pay to win. You pay to get ahead. Don't have that level yet? With real money you can! I have 16 mil sp I know a little about the game, it's pay to win. You can sugar coat it all you want. No PS2 is P2W. They have weapons where it either takes a month and a half of playing for free to get a single weapon or pay for it for instant access forever. Also not to mention the currency used to buy weapons in that game is also used to skill up in the game too. That is P2W. |

There is no such thing as wasted SP (except for skill books that offer no bonuses).

A few more suggested content idea that can bring life to this game.
8. More new terrains. 9. More new outposts. 10. A training room. 11. Allow district owners to customize the outpost layouts. 12. Allow free roam of districts that we own. 13. Allow mercs to hang out in places other than the warbarge and battlefield. 14. More planet types besides the temperate ones we have.

And as someone else already pointed out, you have entered a culture that is famously known throughout the MMO industry as New Eden or the Eve culture. This culture has three basic rules that have remained unchanged for 10 years.
1. Adapt or Die 2. Don't use what you can't afford to lose. 3. Accept the permanent consequences of your choices.
Your choices here have to matter. I have skill points invested in books that I don't like but I have to live with that mistake. In fact, I'm glad I made that mistake because it taught me how to be careful with my choices. Besides, ultimately those wasted SP became an investment instead in case the skill books they affect become balanced again.
Without this third rule, no one will learn anything. We practically live in the harshest universe in MMO history. Welcome to New Eden.

Well, I can tell you this. I run into the same people over and over again no matter what game mode I play. That would never happen elsewhere. With a small player database and even less player retention things aren't looking good. This isn't a PC that you simply upgrade and keep playing EVE it's a PS3 and the amount of people leaving for PS4 and XBOX1 grows daily. I've got a lot of money invested in the game so I'll be here till it dies and would like to see it stick around a while, I think allowing people to fix there mistakes could help that. |
