I'd give up my Heavy and MinLogi, and I'd even go so far as to have a 50% reduction to my total SP if I was allowed one more respec. This whole thing may sound stupid, but I could not care less. Scouts are fun.

A few days ago, I created a Militia Minnie Light Frame setup fitted with a militia shotgun, 2 militia profile dampeners, locus grenades, an assault Scrambler Pistol, and a flux active scanner. I didn't do incredibly well, my best score being16-8, but it was the most fun experience I've had in a while.

Sure, getting dropped in .5 seconds was a pain, but being able to avoid most scanners in pub matches while having the ability to surprise a group of reds from behind more than made up for my losses.

I do know that even well-fitted Scouts are almost non-competitive in PC and that Light Frames in General have needed some work to be done on them for quite some time, but I am willing to drop everything I currently have just to be able to acquire a decent Scout fitting that I could hop on and have some fun with.

 You don't need the SP.

A militia Minny light can fit a couple of sprint mods, a scanner or an RE, some std weaponry and off you go.

Lots of fun, f*ck your KDR, terrorise some protobears. Simples.

Skilling up a scout suit just gives you more opportunities to lose money. The extra high slots aren't worth it.

how the hell did you avoid most scanners in militia? you need scout to 5 or something equivalent just to avoid advanced, unless everybody was using standard that match.

but yeah scouts are alot of fun, and you'll become much more competitive thye more you practice.

Just use your logi with a one or two complex kin cats, 1 cardiac and a dampener or range extender.
Use Scanner and RE as your equipment and an extender, precision mod and energizer in the high slots.

If you dont have most of these skills specced then just go right into scout of your choice but if not, this is an easy way to play scout until you build up the SP.

I just skilled into gallente scouts, and you are absolutely right, even if you die fast, being a scou is plain fun.

Rushing over the field, dropping uplinks behind enemy lines and doing ninja hacks is quiet awesome, I'm still traing to find the right light weapon for it, but atm I like the Scr/smg combo alot, or the classicaly swarm/smg is fine too.
I dont like shotguns, the range is just to limited, and the smg is a beast on closerange, so why bother :D

When I'm on the ground, I love running around with my 'Dren' Scout with a shotty, scrambler pistol (because BPO, SMG is better), green meds, and scanner. I rarely go below 1 kdr bar pub stomps or bad maps, and it's still really fun to one shot some poor sap as soon as he turns a corner. I have to wonder sometimes if the scouts complaining now are doing it wrong, because I'm having successes on the battlefield with literally no sp into them.

I just wish 1.7 and pilot suits would come out already so I can start investing some SP into infantry.

Skilling up a scout suit just gives you more opportunities to lose money. The extra high slots aren't worth it.
On the financial side I agree that Proto scout is not worth the extra slot. But if you intend on running a scout suit, the profile bonus is indispensable. The ability to avoid most scanners w/ no dampeners means free low slots for armor or kincats/stamina. I use STD or ADV suits 99% of the time & stay in the green ISK wise.

The Gal scout is definitely the better scout ATM.
 -More useful bonus
 -More CPU
 -More base HP
-More versatile slot layout @ Proto lvl. Scouts need lows(speed, stamina, profile, more HP's) not Highs(less HP's,precision?, DMG bonus?) ?=useful yes, but not more important than HP's in the current TTK environment.

With that said, I still prefer my Min scout. Their is just something so satisfying about taking out a squad with Nova Knives & no one even knowing you were there until they're bleeding out on the ground.
