Always be in a decent squad, get a decent LAV and always keep your back against the wall with an opening to run too nearby.
If you need to walk long distances - call a cheap LAV - you're as safe in it as you are walking around.
Far as fit goes you're looking fine - slap on a repair mod if you can though.
Lately heavies who stack speed are doing rather well, as well. But against other heavies they get shredded. So it's your call.

For solo strategies
I have a sibling that plays sentinels, and I've told her to play the heavy like a scout suit, which has boosted her gameplay. Only thing to take note of is that we both favor defensive strategies, which may not be your preference, but it works well for solo work, offense requires lavs and squads
Point defense works rather well for objectives that are underground, she usually hides off in a corner or behind the entrance and mows them down with the HMG. For areas that she can't hide directly she will wedge herself right next to a CRU (or below it) so her signature doesn't show up on the enemies screen. (I know all this crap because I use scouts)
You'd be surprised how few people actually defend points and fewer still expect people to defend points.
Only when the team is organized will she go on the offensive.

Never stop moving, stay in inclosed areas, get a good logi or lav and make sure your around a nanohive or a depot. Also run with a squad, your kdr, isk and wp will thank you. Also when engauged in combat, the hmg is better for short range, close the distance and take the advantage away from your enemy

imo the hp buff on the heavys now make it so its better of to regen the hp and move faster rather than brick tank unless you have a true logibro so what i do is this, throw 2 enhanced shield rechargers and make it so your shield regen is at 42.52 with about 500 shield. The shield regen is so nice sometimes it really keeps you in the front line. Also run flux grenades since Hmg does more damage to amour than shield and try to crouch down when you fire at a target thats even like 40m away it will increase your damage over range i belive.

I usually play a patrol role. Not defense nor offense. When I do go offense I use LAVS. |

Throw on some M1s, M512-A SMG, and Proficiency on that suit and that's about as good as it gets. I've been having a ton of fun with KinCatz and ARs on mine lately.
Find a Logi. Preferably one with a Scanner and Reps. If you find one with Proto Reps, get in his squad. I'll often throw them a little incentive ISK to stick with me.
Stay indoors as much as possible. Find a cozy hallway with a good escape route and an entrance that allows you to mow them down as they come around the corner.

Dont be too cocky, u meet ur death sooner. Try to skill into the basic submachince gun, it got less cpu/pg then the militia. Also just get used to using the heavy macince gun or forge gun. Try to stay are from big open area. There alot to say but you will learn it from experience. If need a heavy buddies, message me (im average) if im on. How to be a heavy.
1. Do not spec into heavy or HMG
2. Spec into Gal Assault and run a AR
You will enjoy the game more and will not have to put up with the frustration of being killed by every weapon in the game because your unable to do anything about thanks to the horrible HMG.

If you want to be an HMG carrying Heavy I suggest:
A/1
High-slot 2 Complex Damage Mods
Low-Slot 1 Armor rep 1 Kin-cat... that's right, you read that correct.
Stick to tight spaces with long-ish lines of sights. Duck and bob out from cover, don't just sit there and fire a bullet hose, especially squatting. You're a giant dumpster with an enormous hitbox that can't get to cover then.
For open maps, hop in a LAV and drive right up to people, hop out and spray them. This also affords you to pick your targets easier. Hop out of the LAV when its a straggler and a few starter fits. Pick your battles.
