A little preface to counter 80% of people who respond to this thread: "But it overheats when you shoot it and oneshots a scout!!! That makes it ok!!!!"
No. You shouldn't be able to just walk around with your 400 damage shot permanently charged up. It should generate heat at a moderate rate while fully charged. The heat sinks are red and hot when fully charged, but apparently that heat doesn't exist until it fires? Give me a break. If you want to use your hand cannon that kills my 400 health scout in one shot, you should at least suffer for sitting outside of a doorway with it charged for half an hour waiting just for me.
*****, please. If you have the gall to even complain about this you are really a piece of work. It's the equivalent of sitting in a Large Railgun Installation and having it at full charge and just sitting there waiting for an LAV to pop out to oneshot. It doesn't take that much skill to land a fully charged shot on someone when you can just sit there waiting for them to walk around the corner right into your fully charged barrel.
Are you seriously going to argue with this? If you are too stupid to only charge your weapon up at the right time, then don't charge it. Being capable of sitting there with a charged high damage shot is something that I have never seen allowed in ANY FPS. Or even in any other genre of game either! lmao. Even ******* RPGs - JRPGs for example; you can't sit there in Monster Hunter with a Great Sword at level 3 charge forever; it autocasts at the last charge. It's stupid as hell. I am honestly terrified of people being so stupid that they post to defend their ability to keep their shot charged forever because it will kill 200,000 of my brain cells every time I read their comment.
This is literally equivalent to being able to keep the Spartan Laser fully charged in Halo and just walking around with it like that, ready to blast anything away in one shot.
A second option. A second option to it generating heat, is having it autofire at max charge. I prefer this but maybe you guys would rather it generate heat and burn you alive instead when you shoot it. I'd even settle for less overheating after firing the charged shot if it autofired.
This isn't a nerf. This just punishes people who suck at the SCR. Most people fire it when it reaches max charge so this shouldn't even affect most people.
If this change would make you stop using the SCR/put you off, then go use the AR you skilless scrubcake.
P.S. This isn't a QQ thread. I was just watching gameplay and I couldn't believe how stupid it is that it wasnt like this in the first place. I don't think the SCR is OP, I think the charge concept is ******* stupid and uninteresting. It's just a free high damage shot. This is assuming you aren't terribad and actually know how to shoot a weapon accurately in an FPS, which is, you know, THE POINT OF AN FPS.
Now that I've dealt with most of the obnoxious posts that will be said in response to this, I'm willing to listen to any intelligent objections/discussion.
P.S.S. Amarr weapons should use energy/crystals like in EvE that break after a certain amount of use. A charged shot should do more damage to this crystal/use up more energy.

I thought of an example of one game where you can keep a charged shot. In Super Smash Bros. you can play Samus and charge her blaster thing up to full charge and walk around with it. However that's somewhat balanced by the fact you can see she has it charged up cause her gun blinks. That's the only example I can come up with though off the top of my head.

Alright, that's two examples lol

I personally would vote for it automatically firing. Which would you prefer, Hecarim? This goes towards everyone else, as well.

Namirial Kensai wrote:so, basically, remove the charge shot entirely?
the whole point is that you charge it BEFORE a fight, if charging it before your ebing shot at is pointless, or if it uses more ammo when charged, or any combination of the two, it makes firing the weapon while charged completely pointless. because you will either run out of ammo in only a couple shots that likely wont even hit fi the enemy is moving, or your spending you 0.5 seconds of life getting shot trying to charge a weapon that takes 3 seconds.
TL;DR no, because it would defeat the purpose of the weapon entirely
That's some cute logic you have there. Are you just too bad to charge your weapon before going into a fight instead of walking around with it perpetually charged? No. It is "alpha" damage. You get a huge burst of damage that people can't react to before it is dealt. It doesn't defeat any purpose whatsoever, moron.

Because I didn't realize it was even there until now. I assumed that there was already a system in place to keep people from walking around with a fully charged shot to oneshot someone.

Vermaak Doe wrote:This should definitely affect all charging weapons also, such as the normal forge and similar weapons.
I agree. To counteract it for forges I think they should do a small amount more damage since it will take more skill to use them if you are punished for holding the charge. The SCR already does enough damage for its charged attack.
