I do not know if it has already been proposed but it could be good if you could optimize the menus "on battle" for the keyboard as the selection of dropsuits in the supply depots and the vehicles and orbital strikes's menus. Currently we must navigate in these menu with the movement keys (arrows between Ctrl and the numeric pad) and it would be more ergonomic to do it with the arrow keys left of the keyboard (WASD or WASD).
It is not practical to move his hand from one side to the other keyboard this slows us down and we realize vulnerable when asked a vehicle delivery for example. (excuse my english)

I had a similar thread - but yours has more likes.
But yes - they really didn't think it through when they did the keyboard/mouse button assignments...
Should be WASD for all navigation, Q/E instead of -/+ for switching pages, R/F instead of Backspace/Enter to go forward/backward. |

As I said in another thread...
So what is being said is that people too lazy to move their hand less than six inches when not in a match. And when switching suits at a supply depot, you can't do anything non menu related anyway. This thread is also ridiculous. LOL
The forge gun splash radius nerf has not diminished my ability to kill infantry with it. Thank you.

You you never played with the keyboard, right? This is a combat game. And like in Planetary Conquest every second count for the deployment. In fact while saying that you prove that you don't know what you talking about. And there isn't only the supply depot there is the orbital strikes too : to send faster we can sometimes. I must use the controller then because the controls with keyboard on the map aren't really fine...... (is it normal for you to switch every 2 minutes ?)
I play with the mouse and the keyboard since the open beta. If I ask it after all that time there must be a reason you don't think ? I'm really not like the people there complaining for nothing and everything.
Please never come talk again in my thread about you don't know.

Actually I play dust with nothing but mouse/keyboard since the second build of closed beta. You shouldn't assume so much, you'll find you're wrong more than you're right like you just did here.
Also, I've been playing FPS since the original Castle Wolfenstein when it was all keyboard and no mouse.
It still doesn't bother me to take my hand off the mouse to use the arrow keys when in a menu where the mouse has no functionality anyway.
The forge gun splash radius nerf has not diminished my ability to kill infantry with it. Thank you.

So you and me we must played all those good ol'pixel stuff.
I never seen you in any match of PC you must talk generally about pub matches... I talk to you about optimization !
-Take the controller to select your fitt and spawn point. Jump out the MCC, call your dropship with the controller in menu. (faster) The dropship is impossible to pilot more than 300m before crash with the keyboard so stay with the controller again to go put your drop-uplinks. -You can finally call back your ship and go back to the keyboard. -But remember each time you will select anything in a menu you will not be able to move quickly after or quit the keyboard to call an OB because the keyboard is not accurate enough. (to put it exactly in A reactor of the laboratory for example) -Go back to controller each time you want to spawn on a drop or an objective because the keyboard selection is broken...
I use the controller the half of time and I'm a pc gamer...

I see your point, but I thought this was about menu navigation in and out of combat. No amount of "optimization" is going to help with spawn point selection, DS piloting, or OB placement. Those are more an issue of the functional limitations of the all on/all off nature of the keys.
Though spawn selection can be difficult at times, I usually do ok.
Calling a vehicle isn't difficult for me, but I've been doing it for a while.
My main mouse/keyboard issue is more with the selection wheel.
The forge gun splash radius nerf has not diminished my ability to kill infantry with it. Thank you.

Yes exactly of course but, so why not doing it with the mouse ? The cursor control works on PS3's Internet navigator.
So what is the problem ? They add the possibility to the players to choose but keyboard users are the forgotten, or always the last to be served.

If they could add point and click to menus and select wheel that would be a big improvement. Adding point and click on the overhead map for spawn selection and strike placement as well would be amazing.
No matter how hard I try, I still can't do frago on keyboard/mouse.
The forge gun splash radius nerf has not diminished my ability to kill infantry with it. Thank you.

Another problem is the selection of the modules on the wheel with the mouse. Or sometimes (often with some lag) they don't be activated anymore if you do that too fast. (a little bit like the weapon switch)

Definitely. I can understand not letting us for when in combat (them mouse wheel shooters), but they absolutely should let us change controls for in the menus.
I'm surprised they didn't touch this at all in 1.7 - it's like none of them actually play with keyboard and mouse. |

Uhm - I think you misunderstand me lol - I'm talking about use the scrolling of the wheel as the firing button. Like rolling the wheel forward so you can shoot ridiculously quickly.
I mean, that's really the only thing I could see them not wanting people to do - if they took the 5 minutes to just allow changing key bindings on anything other than the mouse scrolling then that'd be perfect. |

Oh, i see, okay, i still dont see how the mousewheel would make you shoot faster than with just pressing the left mouse button, since what limits the rof isnt the mouse but the stats of the weapon but i see what youre saying.

I don't think they will include the numbers imputs but if they will fix and optimise all they already done with M/KB it should be great for EVE people like me who came on Dust. I don't want anything like EZmod AA or anything like that, I don't really need a fully configurable keyboard keys but a little "fix", a little improving of the present controls with the M/KB, something redesigned to be as efficient and smooth as the joypad.

The worst offender is still the Tab key. It's the scoreboard key, but should really just be called the Suicide key. Switching weapons in a rush? Whoops, you called up the player list. You died.
