New players get more frustrated by the range limitations in the game... BF4 you can effectively snipe with a pistol if your aim is good enough... You cant even shoot a football field length BACK with an assault rifle and hit decent damage...

The gun ranges and limitations offer more frustration for a new player coming into DUST then any gun that does a lot of damage. that's just the gun they are going to train for. and part of FPS's since their inception.

12 year old kids shoot glock's accurately over 100m range... In dust though an assault rifle struggles over 50m

Hehe maybe in the interests of feeling less bad about yourself, you should invent a meta-game where you aim (see what I did there) for every player on the other team to have died the same amount of times. That pause in killing each time you pull up the stats in-game can be your penance by way of slowing your kill rate.
