Compared with what's on the market, I will go on a limb and say that Dust makes a strong case for most in-depth FPS out there. In that case, why not make it more of what it already is.
My suggestion: More realistic re-loading. When a half-depleted magazine is ejected, I propose losing the remainder of those bullets. This will make reloading a tactical choice, rather than a reflex after every kill.
Benefits:
- Ammo in general will be more of a commodity, increasing the value of nanohives. - Decreased benefit to grenade spamming on a hive (wasting valuable nano-hives) - Potentially decrease to TTK - More realism
One a similar note - I have always been annoyed by auto reloading when a magazine reaches zero. I am quite capable of pressing square myself. I also would like to hear the gun click empty a few times when I reach zero.
I'd like to hear any thoughts!

This has been suggested Link. And as I said there; I'm for this.

Yes! This often actually ends up killing me since switching to the side-arm then firing too quickly often brings back up the main weapon and starts reloading again resulting in my death.
End auto-reloading stupidity.

I did not endorse this idea last time it was posted and I do not endorse it now.
"Tactical decision" my ass. In another game, sure, but in Dust, where you often need over half a clip to kill someone, no.

Definitely voting for this. We've got flying coffin dropships that supposedly work light that because they are way too realistic. Realistic reload would be the logical conclusion to that and would also add another area in which weapon types could be differentiated. I don't care about "tactical decisions", I care more about "remove a no-brainer from gameplay". Constantly reloading out of reflex is incredibly silly and could just as well be replaced with a cooldown timer on the gun that attempts a reload any time the weapon isn't in use. I'm all for more conscious usage of features.
After playing E.Y.E. I do not want to go back to arcade reload systems. I really hope CCP listens to this small request.
By the way, do we have weapons that don't reload? I can't think of any off the top of my head. That would be another area for making weapons truly unique. |

Yea...No.
As UIysses said, it takes far too many bullets to drop a target and I already find myself running out of ammo as it is.
Stacked with the fact that I'm a scout, I do not spend a lot of time near allies as I'm too busy setting the stage for them behind enemy lines (in some rare cases that does actually mean there redline). This means I won't be able to benefit from hives. I would carry my own but that means I can't use uplinks or scanners.
@Sole: Dropships fly like that because it used to be way too easy and people would just use them like murder taxis. People still do that but now it takes some skill.

I vote if you hold down square, you keep the remainder of the clip (the animation takes longer) as a series of partially used clips on your person.
And when you're doing nothing and your clip is at full (or as full as it can get) and you hold square, your guy takes the old clips and starts transfering ammo to fill up a new clip. |

Eh... depends on your definition of 'realistic'.
clone hopping conciousness isnt particularly realistic. Nor is being poked through micro-wormholes. At that level of tech, the concept of having reusable, autorefilling magazines, seems trivial.
Where rather than throwing away the entire magazine, you put them back into some kind of autoloader built into your suit.
That being said, I have to admit the current animation shows them as being "thrown away".

because ammo isnt a commodity, dont even know why we have it, just throw down a nano hive or stand next to a supply depot and infinite ammo and grenades to chuck at the enemy, its ridiculous.
would have merit if along with this change you were required to face and hold down the action button at hives/depots to resupply, because im fuckign tired of grenades blotting out the sun when im attacking a node. |

Thanks for the reply!
In the future however, it would be greatly appreciated if you could form a coherent sentence, or at the very least, try to have a point that is somehow related to the original topic.
