When a scout prevents a scan, the signal should be traced back to the scanner.
The tech on my suit tells me when I've been scanned and also when I've prevented one. Scouts should be able to lock on to a scan signal that did not compromise their stealth. |

This is a little off topic, but when I'm deep in enemy territory and get a scan prevented, why does the guy with the scanner still turn around and come at me? It is like I'm still spotted. it is like everyone shows up on it then it checks to see if we can beat the scan. if that's the case I don't need to dampen. usually I am the only friendly around, so even a split second showing up is a death in my scout suit. Scan prevented, get core locus grenade a second later.
I do agree with op though, I should be able to see who scanned me too, if for nothing else, so I know what direction to run away from.
When I look down my scope, all I see are dead people.

Reminds a lot of mine here But I canGÇÖt understand why would a fail scan make it possible to trace the signal back to the source?

a sub will mostly run silent and listen( sort of like us in dust) and using a ping ( active scanner ) will give its position away to other vessels who are listening in exchange for the advantage of gaining a better awareness about what's around it.
i agree that using an active scanner should give away at least the direction of the scan if not the position of the scanner. risk vs reward is a great thing. |

When they read GÇ£You have been scannedGÇ¥, it should check for a signature (taking into account your raised profile) and put you on the map. Modules that lower your profile will help to avoid the enemy discerning your position when you use a scanner.
So, to reiterate; it only raises your profile when you use the scanner, and only in the direction you scan.
Also, the scanner should increase your passive scanner defection when you hold it out and itGÇÖs not being used actively. Using it passively does not increase your scanner profile to the enemy, only when you actively scan. Mostly the same principle, except mine isnGÇÖt reliant on a failed scan. Which is what I meant with GÇ£But I canGÇÖt understand why would a fail scan make it possible to trace the signal back to the source?GÇ¥ When you scan, there is a possibility that yourself are detected unless you use modules to lower your own scan-profile, which makes more sense.
