I have been absent for the recent changes and info regarding the BPO's, and it seems that the community is very upset about this. My question is, are all BPO's being removed? What about my skinweave suits? Anyone who can clarify thank you! |

Pretty sure its just vehicle bpos and vehicle modules that wont be in the game anymore. Honestly not sure what all the fuss is about, since if they let them keep the bpo's they just wouldn't be able to use them.
Dedicated scout. Because the suit is underpowered. Imagine the good ones when we get buffed people ;)

This is correct.
The uproar is by people who are angry that CCP is taking away something they bought with AUR which this group identifies as real money, regardless of the fact that it is more akin to script.

Be really funny if they let them keep it and any time they tried to use it, it crashed their game as the coding wouldn't be there.

Only the militia BPOs for vehicle modules are being removed.
The upset is that this announcement came after CCP confirmed that BPOs would not be removed from player inventories, and because no replacements are being offered.
No.

Message from Godin:
Okay bro, I'm going to make this real simple (note: read up on the vehicle update coming in 1.7 if you haven't):
The 4 modules that they are removing, which are the Militia 180mm Reinforced Steel Plates Blueprint, Militia Shield Regenerator Blueprint, Militia Shield Resistance Amplifier, and the Militia Power Diagnostic System Blueprint got trashed because Wolfman decided to dump them. They are in return giving us a refund for the BPO's. BPO's in a whole aren't being trashed, just these four. |

I haven't seen anyone view it as real money. The issue is that the aurum being refunded isn't worth anything if the items it can purchase can't even be kept.

There is also 2 more reasons people are upset, which I don't think anyone has mentioned.
Take the Shield Resistance Mod BPO. After 1.7 the shield resist mod will be entirely active. So they were hoping either the BPO will be made into an active mod and be far more powerful (kinda like the 'fossil' BPO no longer having just a sidearm) . Or the mod can be added (along with the active no having a stacking penalty) and give, I think, 70% resistance.
Then there are those that bought BPO LAV's who use the shield resistance mod to beef up their vehicles and make it far stronger.. well ok strong enough to take an extra grenade, which isn't too insignificant. All this for free ISK

Ah crappie the three out of the four BPOs I use for my LAV BPO.... I only bought the AURUM for those BPOs. Since I don't want the useless AURUM how about gimme some skill points for compensation hmmmm?
.... yeah no that's a bad Idea but I wanna put it out there and see where this goes.

^THIS.
CCP devalued their own currency by showing us our purchases with aur are not safe.
because of this offering more aur is unacceptable.

Only four specific BPOs are being removed as mentioned in the sticky notes here:

I'm disappointed because CCP encouraged the sale of BPOs immediately prior to their removal. Im not a dev but I imagine it unlikely at that point they couldnt have known some modules were being removed. Anyone who purchased AUR or merc packs, etc at that time specifically for BPOs feel as if they were misled and that this action sets a poor precedent undermining the safety of their other BPOs.
How is anyone upset that people wish to protect their investment?
CCP could find clever ways to appease the masses by replacing the BPOs with something interesting or unique. They could honor the purchase of the BPO until such a time as we get manufacturing and production costs. They could cap the BPO production capacity or even convert the current BPOs to other militia vehicle BPOs. The could redesign how BPOs function to better interact with the market rather than just axing them.
Certainly they can do something better than simply offering AUR that many people bought only for the BPOs in the first place. Simply put, we bought something we were told was special and valuable and if it's removed we should be compensated with something else of a similar value.
