Buffing HP would certainly bring automatic weapons back in line (excepts the hmg, because it is already awful), but it would break the game. While assault rifles and scrambler rifles would have reasonable killing times, all the other weapons (mass driver, laser rifle, sniper rifles, shotguns, etc...) who already have balance d TTKs would greatly suffer simply because killing anything would become way too long.
This phenomenon can already be observed to a certain extent, say I come face to face with a guy with an assault rifle and that I am wielding a mass driver I will get chopped in two before I can even fire a second shell (and that is with a 800hp protosuit). I am not inventing this, it is simply a fact that I have observed.

AV =/= Completely dominate and render vehicles useless. AV = Counterpart of vehicles that combats vehicles.

Its not bad, I use my Mass Driver from time to time. Just have to really get the drop on your enemy, and pray they aren't shield tanking. Those 600+ Shields are the death of any Mass Driver.

My problem is I have advanced minmatar assault with 3x complex damage mods, EXO-5 MD, 2x enhanced kin cats but I can't run it.
Really shouldn't have specced into caldari assault as well.... im going to need to max out PG, core and fitting (probably) just to fit it on! as well as the next CPU upgrade.
that's why, selfishly, I need a respec!!

Another balancing problem you didn't mention is the effectiveness of tanking modules would be diminished if base HP's were buffed. In other words, If suits got an extra 500 HP that complex shield mod is making a smaller percentage impact on the overall EHP of your suit. Plus things like Armor reppers would likely need to be rebalanced, etc. It would be a really messy approach. It makes most sense to nerd base DPS on the OP weapons (AR, ScR, SMG etc.), fix turbo controllers (cause the gun to jam if button is pressed faster than some threshold that is too fast for humans to achieve), and give the AR a little bit of kick/dispersion (less than AScR) so they're not godly at long range (blasters are supposed to be short range).

"Slayer" Logis can already tank 3-4 blasts at current eHP levels. 3-4 blasts means 3-4 seconds. That's 3-4 seconds in a 0.5 second TTK Scout Suit.
After flanking such a "Slayer", fully unaware ... I must survive for a minimum of three seconds ... while staying within 3-6 meters of "Slayer", while attempting to evade AR / ScR hipfire from "Slayer", while landing blast after centered blast on "Slayer".
Just like you, I'm split in two, before I can place my second shot.
But what do the AR and ScR guys say? To strong odds, I'm entitled, as I skilled into an all-purpose suit and all-purpose rifle. To strong odds, I'm entitled, even when flanked by a shotgunner. To strong odds, I'm entitled, when engaging any niche weapon within its respective niche.
Fix TTK, but ignore the source of the TTK problem. Fix TTK, but don't touch my AR or ScR.

There's that, the fact that you need insane aiming to land all four shots and the fact that assault rifles and scrambler rifles alreasy outdamage a shotgun at 3m range (which is completely broken if you want my opinion.
I have proficency 2 in scrambler rifles and smgs and even I think the instakilling sucks. It's just too easy

SMG Proficiency & Sharpshooter V Shotgun Proficiency V AR Proficiency & Sharpshooter III <---- (didn't want to, but had to)
My BPO AR kills more reliably from behind than my Proto Shotgun or SMG. I'm told Scrambler Rifles are even better, though I haven't tried them yet.
So which of the new Rifles will be the best CQC weapon? The one with the longest range, maybe? |

But hey! The Rail Rifle has to spool up and accelerate some particles first, prior to unleashing rapid-fire cosmic fury. The Shotgunner will have several tenths of a second to place his 3-4 blasts. I'm not much good with maths or the ladies, but those are pretty good odds, right?
It's almost like I'm missing something. Can't put my finger on it. Thoughts so cloudy. The Calamity Ring stings. Sense strange, magickal forces at play. Or perhaps a minor oversight by CCP. QA will surely catch it. We'll be fine.

agreed, hipfire is indeed a problem.
i have Lr, Ar and Scr all on atleast prof IV.
Its ridicoulus how good hipfire is rewarded, I often cant believe it myself how people melt, and on which distances hipfire is a better choice then ADS. this also kills the strategic feel for me. Feels more like Quake on the 0-40 meter range o.O

The weapons need a raw decrease in damage, rof or both. Because right now they simply out range and outdamage moat of the other weapons in game. It will be even worse when the new weapons come out...

Quite likely we'll soon be typing: The Rail Rifle is OP. The Combat Rifle is OP.
Would it be OK with you guys if CCP buffed the remaining Rifles, such that every Rifle is OP? We could refer to all over-powered weapons collectively as "Rifles" ... this saves time.

At Mid range the AR should be king. I don't think the weapons need a nerf, just a adjustment that is in line with the hit detection fix. & most good players don't ADS, because they don't have to. |
