Matchmaking from the BEGINNING when player counts were STRONG would have saved this game. There's only so many times you can spend an entire game behind the redline before you quit.
You still get stomped on playing solo. And you still ONLY come up against randoms whilst playing in a group. Scrambler rifles and armour-tanking are now out of control. TTK equals about half a second for starters and 1 second for ADV, 2 seconds for PRO and heavy (stacked).
I'm also going to stop playing. I wonder how many people that makes in this thread alone!
Our patience has worn thing, we saw the potential and we were happy to wait, but you can only wait for so long, especially with next-gen upon us.
That reminds me who here who is rich wants to buy me a PS4? Share the love?
Being that I was guilty of being one of those proto-stompers, "get a leg to stand on" is probably a sufficient answer to my post here.
But I'm not sure it is Proto-stomping that is essentially ruining the game. No matter if the weapons were completely balanced across the board and we all had the same amount of health, it would still amount to the 1337 vs the N00B, as every FPS has.
No, I think the matter of PvE is touching on the right solution. The simple matter of the fact is N00Bs, as much as anyone else who plays Dust, have no other options. You play Pub Ambush, Skirmish or Dom, or GTFO. PC is for the organised Proto-stompers, anyone else who has a crack at that can also GTFO.
So what do the solo, or small group, lower end SP players get to do? Sweet FA. The only recommendation I can make to the Merc starting out is join a MASSIVE Corp. But even then, at this stage of the game, don't expect to get a go in Planetary Conquest.
Where are the Corp Battles promised?
Where are the Drone Battles?
Where are the Markets?
Where are the Officer variants for EVERY weapon in the game?
Where are the maps that are meant to blow our mind?
Where are the new Game Modes?
Where is the one SOLITARY comment on Dust 514 being on PS4?
Seriously, I think the OP is on to something. CCP is focused on fixing bugs (which is good as it was a bug that pushed me over to leave this game), however there is nothing new to make me see it worthwhile coming back. Proto-stomping lone wolves in pubs is just sad to do nowadays, and PC requires time away from your RL for little to no ACTUAL reward.
CCP, give us a comment and give us SOMETHING to look forward to.

I remember the hope I had for the game Brink. Splash damage were gonna deliver an open world, new universe, ground-breaking gunplay, and a customization system that would put Mass Effect to shame.
While I met some of the coolest gamers ever thru that game, the execution of Brink was abysmal. And while we held on for many months for something that would change the game entirely, it never came.
Then Dust 514 came along, and hope started anew. THIS time the Developer was also the Publisher! And now they could turn this game into ANYTHING the players dream it could be.
1 year, 7 months later, and so far the dreams belong in a pipe. Again, I've met some of the coolest gamers I'm ever going to meet, but again I haven't found the IP that is gonna rock people's world for years to come.
Honestly, the only way gamers are ACTUALLY gonna get the game they dream of is by finding some good coders and designers, and starting a Kickstarter Project that gains the hearts and minds of the public. Star Citizen may be the first to deliver what many of us seek, but who knows.
CCP have nailed their "dream job" in Eve, Dust is/was an experiment, one that gained incredible loyalty from it's players, yet never delivered what everyone had hoped for. I'm still gonna be watching these forums for a sign of something awesome, but CCP won't be receiving any more Merc Pack cash from me any time soon. |
