The issue is that with the way transactions work with Dust, you can't actually be refunded money you spent. People who bought AUR specifically for BPO and nothing else have no other use for it if the BPO are being removed. By your logic, they could remove every AUR item in the market/game except for nanite injectors and say "well we're refunding the AUR you spent on the BPOs, Proto suits/weapons/vehicles, etc. so we're even".
There's no equation in this situation, it's a producer saying that the consumer must buy funny money which in turn could be exchanged for products A, B, C, D, and E but then once you buy the funny money saying that you can't actually buy vowels. Anyone upset about this tactic is justified in feeling cheated out of their money.
Actually thats not quite why these people are upset. They are angry about the rernoval of several vehicle BPO's of items which will no longer exist. It seems silly for them to keep the items when they would no longer be usable (or even desirable) in the game. These items would essentially be useless hordables.
People who supposed that these items would be around forever were a bit deluded since the game has been in an amazing state of flux for the past year. Saying you didn't know some change like this was coming just means that you haven't been paying attention.
As always, shopping for digital items with what amounts to real money is a situation where buyers must be ware and not get ruffled when things change.
At any rate I'm sure that they will find something useful they wish to spend the AUR on even if they don't see it now. CCP is not going to make AUR items go away as you suggested since they are the only way the company makes money off this game. Additionally getting rid of all the BPO items except one, refinding the AUR, and expecting their buisness venture to be successful is a ludicris idea which you know will never happen.
If you think for one minute that CCP is going to kill the AUR market (the only thing they make money off of in regards to dust) you are even more foolish than I thought.
