It is just as viable as running a shotgun if you can aim well and score those headshots. As Logistics are now, restricting them to sidearms would be horrible. If more sidearms and equipment were introduced and the Logistics suits gained several buffs in regards to equipment usage, then I wouldn't mind it that much. It's not really a fix for anything, though. The problem isn't REALLY that Logistics can use Light weapons at all, so, obviously, it's not a great solution. Many suits I've worn, many burdens I've borne, for the oaths I've sworn. Panda.

That said, yes, the game is much harder being outranged by nearly everything. I don't know what, or even if, logis need a fix, but sidearm only isn't it.

I only need to be careful when assault and scrambler rifles engage at the far end of their effective. The SMG has a much longer reach that many seem to realize and in close quarters it out performs the rifles. Aside from being horribly outranged by every other weapon in the game, what kind of survivability do we have with this? Not all logis are shield/armor tankers running quintuple stacked damage mods. If the guy shooting me is more than 30 meters away I may as well just hold a nade and save him a couple of seconds because that assault suit who IS stacking mods will slay me instantly. Being a logi is already expensive. Please stop trying to make it even more so.

I honestly rarely have time to shoot people myself with all of the support that a logo can give. Even if I had no weapon at all I wouldn't feel defenseless.

EVERY piece of equipment he carried was Proto, so he'd rez you with full armor, rep you up instantly if you got shot, and could have us all full on ammo in seconds. I may not agree with the people demanding that kind of a nerf, but don't forget that not everyone plays the same way. As an Amarr enthusiast, I refuse to shield tank any of my suits. At most I will put 1 extender on them. My only other alternative are Myofibril Stimulants and Damage Mods. [+ªa¦Ç+¦++-ö-Å94] Burner of faces. The Plasma Cannon is not underpowered.

Do you think a scram pistol is the only sidearm? SMGs are amazing sidearms that, yes in fact, I have used without a light weapon before. I didn't wrack up a 10.00 K/d that match, but I held my own just fine. Skill wise I don't think I have more than IV in any SMG skills. As a logi you shouldn't be able to carry 3+ pieces of equipment, have an above average tank, AND fit a light weapon. Sorry if that hurts your feels. Maybe when CCP gets around to revamping the skills (so patch 2.5 - 3.0) they will give logistics some kind of role bonus with sidearms. I don't doubt that we will get some new sidearms soon(TM).

Edit: SMG's aren't that bad, but if that's the only weapon I can defend myself with effectively then I'd rather spec out of logistics than be forced to use it. With new range weapons and a SCR range buff I don't know how anyone could seriously contemplate sidearm only. You may as well just remove a logi's ability to carry a weapon at all. It is viable, but having said that, the idea of restricting Logi to sidearms is stupid! I would be on board with restricting the Pilot suit to only a sidearm. Downed pilots behind enemy lines have to make due with a sidearm in just about every movie I have seen. Yet medics always carry the same weapons as the rest of their squad.

If your heavy needs reps constantly, then he really needs to learn to use cover more effectively.
