I came to notice a few posts that had wrong math for calculating EHP, so I decided that I'd make this short thread to clear up any confusion that might be out there on how EHP is calculated.
EHP - stands for effective hit-points. This number incorporates resistances with raw hit-point values.
How to Calculate It's rather simple!
EHP = ( HP / damage multiplier )
HP - can be either shield, armor, or total damage multiplier - how much damage is inflicted from base damage
Note: if you want total EHP, you should add together the EHP values for shield and armor, because both have different damage multipliers
Proof Example 1: Let's say that we have 1000 HP and our resistances are 0% (or alternatively said, a damage multiplier of 1) According to the formula, we get: EHP = 1000 / 1 = 1000. This makes sense because we expect to have to deal 1000 damage if there are zero resists.
Example 2: We still have 1000 HP, but this time a weapon gets a damage bonus of 100% towards our hit-points (or alternatively said, a damage multiplier of 2). According to the formula, we get: EHP = 1000 / 2 = 500. This also makes sense because we expect to deal half as much damage since damage is doubled.
Example 3: Again, we have 1000 HP. However, we have 50% resistances against an un-bonused weapon (or a damage multiplier of .5) According to the formula, we get: EHP = 1000 / .5 = 2000 Once again, this makes sense because since damage effectiveness is cut in half, we should expect to have to deal twice as much damage than normal.
If we go to an extreme and say that resistances approach 100%, then EHP approaches infinity. Using the formula, we take the limit as the damage multiplier goes to zero. For those that don't know what this means, it's the same as doing 1000 / .00....001, and dividing anything by something that's almost zero gives us infinity.
Of course, game mechanics provide us with a hard cap at 95% resistances so that unkillable fits can never be created. One should also notice that EHP increases exponentially as resistances increase linearly. Adding more resists increases the gains on the EHP value. However, the stacking penalties provide each additional resistance module with diminishing returns, so EHP values do not increase exponentially when module count increases linearly, or at least not as dramatically.

This is very good information. Personally i view my EHP value in simpler terms of 1 bullet or 2 bullets, that's about how much I have.

With this fit, it's possible to always have a hardener running with only 15sec of cool down (during which I will be well up in the sky or behind cover).
Those cowardly rail tankers, it's not hard to deal with them. Then all I have to do is switch to a rail turret myself and snipe them from above. As soon as they take damage, they'll run like a little girl from a wasp!
I kind of feel bad for them, AV nerfs, active tanking buffs, and they'll still just hide behind the redline because they're afraid of losing 'a million isk vehicle,' shooting at my comparably priced dropship that I risk virtually every game. They're a disgrace to pilots of all vehicles.
