Some members of the Dust Scussion Vehicle channel on Skype expressed an interest in their Eve pilots meeting up to discuss Orbital Support changes.
There will be an informal meeting starting at 0000 UTC in the channel "Dust OB". I will be present and Hans will also try to be present as well. The agenda for the meeting is the upcoming Orbital changes which are discussed under "Orbital Strikes" here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1404916#post1404916
This will also be a good time for pilots and Dusters to raise any concerns or questions they have about the changes. The meeting will currently be schedule to last 30 minutes to 1 hour.

A summary or log should be doable. Having folks post some questions they have here will work as well. Also, if there are some Eve folks that don't have Dust characters there is a mirror of this thread here:

What do others think LP rewards should be at for FW?
How urgent do you think a method of finding battles aside from being told by corpmates?
How long should it take to earn an orbital with EVE ships? How should this scale?

Ok, so I won't be able to make it for that... But I have some stuff to ask as I've been actively supporting orbitals from the EVE side with one of my alts. Basically, there is NO WAY for an EVE pilot to join the DUST team's voice chat! So that eliminates any *easy* way of coordinating OB's right off the bat. You need to have a way for a corp character with the right roles (for controlling PC's and stuff) to invite EVE toons to the team's voice chat so that they can coordinate not only what type of strikes they want to have, but also when to drop them...What do I mean, well there are several possible things here.
First, the EVE pilot could have two racks of 4 small guns, like 4 projectile and 4 laser to provide the Dust guys with immediate choices from at a given time, but when they request the OB, how does the EVE pilot know which set of guns to fire? Another way to provide options would be to have multiple ships docked in the local station. So if they know which strike they want, then they tell the pilot ahead of time and he undocks with that ship and goes to the district.
Second, there is a delay for when an EVE pilot drops an OB. This is because the DUST portrait appears on the screen as a target for the EVE pilot and then he can just sit there and not press F1 to activate his guns for like 5 minutes... delaying the OB for whenever. Well it would be awesome if the DUST squad leader calling in for the OB could ask the EVE pilot to delay an OB until they told them to fire... so that they could lay traps etc like that. But full comms capability would be need for this type of coordination!
Third, having a way for the EVE pilot to communicate to the GROPOS (ground pounders) when he get's attacked or is otherwise unable to delver an OB when requested would help a lot with coordination.
Finally, having the EVE pilot on comms would go a LOOOONNNGGGG way in providing more of that full immersion for the both participants in both games.
Oh and another thing. The single BIGGEST THING YOU CAN DO to get EVE pilots interested in doing orbital strikes! Give EVE pilots kill mails for dusties that get killed by their orbital strikes. We all know how kill board stats etc. are huge parts of the EVE game like KDR and warpoints are to the DUST mercs. So please implement some kind of kill mail for the EVE pilots!

Can't make this because :tz: but I can still make comments here, right?
- Please make Eve fittings matter (currently, all bombardments are the same, based on number of guns, but isn't affected by any ship bonuses or damage modules etc)
- Please allow Eve players to join the Dust team channel for voice comms
- Please expand the types of orbital support that Eve players can provide (sensor boosters=scan?)

Highlights:
Orbitals will be EvE supported only in the new edition of FW.
Eve pilots will receive LP for orbitals dropped.
Orbitals will be set to a timer, dependent upon the EvE pilots proximity to the beacon.
-Example EvE pilot must be beside timer for one minute, Orbital is ready. No mention of who qualifies for it as WP are being removed from FW.
-Timer will not reset until first orbital is dropped. -No stored OBs-
More info could have been gleaned but the session was interrupted. |
