I propose that the max amount of an equipment you're allowed to have active on the field be limited by the equipment skill level and not the unique equipment type.
Lately, people have been complaining about spamming of deployable equipment such as uplinks and nano-hives. The problem is the outcome of many battles is decided by who can "set up shop" near objective(s) first. Excessive amounts of deployed equipment have also been blamed for causing lag in PC. Currently, the maximum amount of deployable equipment were allowed to have active on the field is limited by the individual limits set for each variant of a deployable equipment. Using uplinks as an example: Drop-Uplink: Max Active --- Militia Drop Uplink: 1
Drop Uplink: 1 'Hacked' Drop Uplink: 1 Stable Drop Uplink: 1
'Dawnpyre' R-9 Drop Uplink: 2 N-11/A Flux Drop Uplink: 2 P-13 Quantum Drop Uplink: 2 R-9 Drop Uplink: 2
'Abyss' Carthum Drop Uplink: 1 'Void' Imperial Drop Uplink: 2 Imperial Drop Uplink: 2 Allotek Stable Drop Uplink: 2 Imperial Flux Drop Uplink: 2 Imperial Gauged Drop Uplink: 2 Ishukone Gauged Drop Uplink: 3 --- Max Possible Active Uplinks = 25
Wow! It is possible for just a single player to have up to 25 active uplinks! Imagine the number of active uplinks if an entire team of 16 was dropping uplinks, now all 32 players in a match? The amount of active uplinks allowed in a match is absurd. And that's just talking about drop uplinks, we haven't even covered nano-hives.
In my proposal, the max active equipment is limited by the equipment skill level. Using drop-uplinks again as an example:
Drop Uplink Deployment Skill Level : Max Active 1 : 1 3 : 2 5 : 3

Even though I'm an advocate for uplink use in warfare, I too am in favor of uplink limitations.
Having each variation to have it's own maximum causes: - Huge uplink spam as it's too easy for each player to set up some 5-7 links at ease - Forces to have too many saved fittings as each link combo needs it's own
So need to limit uplinks exists. Critical change would be to have limitation which doesn't care about uplink variation. But just what to limit?
Team limitation is impractical and too confusing when implemented. Squad limitation is easily circumvented. Personal limitation remains, and is also okay to allow some specialization.
There needs to be an incentive to skill up to proto links like post-uprising (pre-uprising it did NOT really make sense!).
OP's suggestion, which has been mentioned elsewhere as well, is a decent start: Uplink skill level sets the active link maximum: L1 - 1 L3 - 2 L5 - 3
But it is not quite enough, otherwise it would still be too easy to use several low level links. So a small tuning is needed:
L1 - max 1 link of STD level or higher L3 - the above PLUS 1 link of ADV level or higher L5 - the above PLUS 1 link of PRO level or higher The maximum active per player would be three. there would be a strong incentive to level up the uplink skill instead of spamming low level links variations.
In general the uplinks themselves could have slightly tuned down max active number, with maybe gauged versions having max two active but with severe limitations (care must be taken to get rid of gauded links superiority!). If maximum of three links seems too small, there could be one level added to top: L0 - Max 1 militia link (So the level 5 maximum would be four links in this case)
Feeling the scanner is too simple and off balance?

The only issue caused by equipment is performance related. If CCP can fix that then there is no issue(annoying as it may be to some).
There may be a point for limiting the same type of equipment in a certain range(higher meta equipment would need to have priority). |

We've been asking for a fix to the equipment nonsense for a while now and CCP has yet to hear our plea.
Just gonna have to deal with it.

wat is the point to limit uplinks sure having alot of enemy uplinks is anoying but if they are satisfied whit a 2sec drecrease uplink instead of a 5 sec decrease let them use it just flux or shoot them its more points for you
and tbh having multi variant equipment is a tactic that is usable in dust and your saying remove the posibilety wat next your gone make it so we can only use normal nanohive's and if we trow a repair only nanohive a regular nanohive needs to implode cause the type of equipment needs a drop limit? then wat is the point of having difrent variations of equipment youd punish the ppl using there head and there spend sp just cause you dont want mass 5wp gains and some eazy kill's now and then |

Sure, I would support a limit like this, but I think it's too low. 25 is too high, but 3 is too low. Maybe 1/3/5 instead, or 2/4/7/? |

op said equipment, and only used the unlink as a example. This type of thing would also prevent mass nanohives/infinite grenade spam, and mass amounts of armor regen every 2 feet. Plus all those pulsing hives cause visual distortion which makes it hard to tgt players surrounded by these blinding pulsating things. I imagine the animation from these spammed cause computational power that could be better used for rendering and hit detection. |

Hey guys,
Like Samantha said, I am only using uplinks as an example. My proposal would also effect nano-hives.
Valmar, the proposed change was my stab at finding a solution to a concern that was expressed by the CPM in a 2 hour talk show. I have already explained how the current limitations on max active equipment is negatively effecting gameplay. Having said that, I understand that some variety of equipment are unique because of their max active stat and my solution would negate that.
The proposed max active per level was just an example and can be changed to whatever's reasonable.

WHAH I am not smart enough to buy Flux grenades, WHAH I am going to complain about stuff i can not kill because I have no skill or cognitive thought process' WHAH WHAH WHAH
This is why i get 1500- 4500 WP a match. because instead of complaining about stuff i do what it takes to take out that spam. You would be surprised what a couple OBs will do to group of people and uplinks.
