Hey all. This is mostly directed at the DEV team. I was recently playing Dust 514 with my brother and thought it would be really good if there was a two player split screen feature! What does everyone else think? |

Oh yeah... Sorry i forgot to say, the split screen should or could be like StarHawk where you need 2 PSN accounts to sign in so each player can have his own personolised charactor. Here are some question i would like to have opinions on; 1) How Will Split Screen Work?
2) How many players will it go up to?
3) Will the screen be horizontaly or verticly split? |

It's not possible for this game.
Have you seen split screen on BF3 or MAG? It's limitations with the hardware that make it hard to implement.
I like the idea though.

It IS a great idea, that way the wife and I could play at the same time instead of fighting over the controller.
The thing is I thing the lag that you already get in this game for 1 person on the screen would be outrageous with a split screen setup.

Some games do have that functionality. None that I know of expect to support it with 32/32 multiplayer game play.
A new 12GB PS3 is $199. Guess which would make more sense to CCP, you buying a second PS3 or them spending untold Dev dollars and time trying to squeeze even more data into the very limited space of one PS3? |

I mentioned this in OB and was told no by several individuals for several reasons, me I personally believe we should be able to do multiplayer with the multiple toons on an account. With up to 2 of the 3 being active at a time doing their own seperate thing as long as they are in the same battle.

Good for you.
It does not change the reality of the problem, just this level of graphic detail that was added in Uprising has cost dramatic reductions in game play. Read the many postings regarding not being able to see your targets at distance or if they are at a different height than yourself. All because having pretty grass is more important.
Got that down? Now triple the requirements network communications and double the amount of data that the single PS3 has to resolve as each player will actually increase the basic set of information. It doesn't matter if you are next to your TV buddy the game is not designed to have two players play on the same system. There is a significant amount of software that would have to be changed, or they could just send all the requests to the servers to handle now. With the PC/EVE centric design it should fail in a spectacular fashion.
Software is not a magic world, it requires dedication, understanding the requirements and restrictions of the system. Not all of these attributes are apparent in DUST and the thought that you would expect these same developers to add more players on these antiquated boxes is ... cute.

So no complaints about adding this on the ps4 then? because it deff has more than double the processing power of the ps3. and would you not be loading the servers with more information if you had a second ps3 instead of split screening? a technical question i guess. |

That would be nice, but the clutter of data on the screen and the design of the game in general kind of make it seem impractical.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

not think ever going to happen... i bet to say that only 10% or less people really do want this feature, i mean, how many of you would use it daily? yeah, everyone has sometimes friends coming by and everyone would sometimes use it, but it doesnt deserve DEVs to spend the resources to add this feature, there are LOTS of things that must come first, like more suits, weapons, vehicles and balance it all, and even more important, fix stuff... you seriously rather having split screen option ? :S
See you from orbit
