From sprint speed to base speed. Also, with this change, CCP should also lower the increase of the stats. For example: the militia kincat increases your stats by 5%. Lower it to 3%. Then advanced should be 5% and proto should be 7%.
I just pulled these numbers out my ass, but what do you guys think?
Also, I'm pretty sure that kincats increase jump height too so maybe add that to the item description? |

Why change it? How about adding another module for walking? Or how about just adding on a small modified walking speed with the KinCats.
Also what's the purpose? |

These are supposed to be steroids for your legs.
No one would use the walking modules (I think).
That's what I'm proposing, but with actual numbers. (I also tried to avoid breaking the game by lowering the numbers)
The purpose is to make kincats more awesome.
I hope I answered all your questions satisfactorily.

theres 2 things that I feel could be done,
1. add another HIGH SLOT module to increase walking speed
2. make Kin-kats effect both sprinting and walking
3. DON'T LOWER NUMBERS, I NEED TO GET AS FAST AS I CAN GET SINCE OBJECTIVES/INSTALLATIONS SCAN EVERYTHING PERFECTLY!!!

and BTW, my scout would be EVEN MORE USELESS if CCP removed the sprint speed bonus!

Every NKer in the game would use walking modules. It's impossible currently to knife someone who is backpedaling, and this would fix that.

it would fix that prob, but we wouldn't be FAST anymore since we would only get base sprint speed therefor making it a nerf to most scouts!

If we add speed to the base speed, then the sprint speed would be increased as well. Isn't that how it works? Just look at the Minmatar suits. For example: If 3% is added to walking, then 3% would be added to sprinting as well.
Also, I suggested lower numbers so that no one would lag too much. The frame rate is horrible in Dust. Unless they fix this, I don't see how it can be beneficial if it increases all your speed at higher increments.
This is open to discussion. If you have a different/better idea, please feel free to add.
Remember: all this is coming from a knifing scout. I'm just trying to help you guys. |

I don't mind seeing kin-cats affecting both sprinting and movement speeds.
But for GOD SAKE don't you dare reduce their effect. With the high hit detection these days, we scouts need every little bit of speed we can get.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

The thing I would be worried about is that medium frames could stack kincats even more than scouts and overtake the last bit of speed advantage they have.

This type of thread always sparks my interest. (Kinetic Catalysers)
CCP, I use a cracked out Amarr assault proto from time to time, it was one of my most entertaining suits. The stats on the suit were as follows.. Note that I purposely chose amarr assault because of their high standard hp, pg, and cpu.
AMARR Prototype (Racial variant)
443 shields/225 armor
3x complex shield extenders 3x Kinetic catalysers walk speed 4.8 m/s :( Sprint speed 9.45 m/s!!!! :) Gek38 assault rifle Either advanced or Ishukune nova knives Locus grenade Compact nanohive
Now, since this suit is more like a scout at this point, you would think that it would be very survivable under certain flanking situations. (Not for full on frontal pushes). But however, the recent changes to the game have caused this unique work of art of a suit to become alot less affective. Hit detection fixes, Auto-aiming mechanics, Heavy suit turn speed increases, are now all factors that make the stacked kin kat far less effective. And thats pretty boring ach. Lets not let this become "Tanked suit 514" where DPS and HP are the main importance.
The solution:
As previously stated, movement speed should be a factor in the kinetic catalysers. They should help both movement speed and sprint speed. Why? Because armor modules affect both movement speed and sprint speed! So it only makes sense for a biotic implant to counter that walking speed deduction as well.
Well what about the cracked out scouts? How will that be fair if they could walk upwards of 6m/s?
Well then just don't give the walking speed the same percentage boost as the sprint speed gets. Maybe give it like half the boost or something. Experiment with that to find out what outrageous capacities the scout could possibly do, and then work yall's way down into the medium and heavy frames to see which percentages would be fairly effective but not too too crazy. The aiming mechanics on this game are certainly where they need to be, but the scouts have now become rendered much more useless and I find that a bit saddening. I feel sorry for the scouts that are dedicated to their style of play because it's like they cant be "Escape artists" like they used to.
And pluss my amarr suit has horrible strafe, especially with Armor plates. I don't know how some of these heavies manage to do it but bravo! (Chicagocubsfan you pretty much got that down) But if we had this benefit as a possibility, then maybe more people would take a second look into biotics, and it further diversifies the battlefield from the pace that it has now resorted to.
The crack suit was rendered useless after vehicle deployment speeds were shortened, Lets do something to get that "Starcraft 2 zealot" style back into the game. I miss that brawler suit. I understand the melee glitch needed to be removed but nova knives are currently "Non competitive" as it is because of scanners. Let's keep looking for this balance that yall are working so hard to strive for, you are doing a fairly good job so far CCP. |

Red Cans are quite well done currently, although a bit too heavy on fitting.
The good thing about them is exactly the fact that it's only sprint speed they affect. Walking speed increase is very very very powerful thing. First, it affects sprint as well. Second, it affects strafe as well.
Because of strafe increase it would be a must for any killer fitting. A virtual requirement, I dare to say.
Feeling the scanner is too simple and off balance?
An idea:

Loving the feedback on this thread. Keep it coming! What if there were different percentages for walking and sprinting? Like 3% added to walking speed and 5% added to sprint? (I always talk about the STD/MLT variants first) |

That's the beauty of metagaming in a sandbox style of character creation. Not every player has to fit their suit in a cookie cutter style. You could be saying "holy **** that's a fast scout!" One match and "holy **** that scout is tanked!" the next.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

I like the idea of Kin-cat's affecting movement as well as sprint.... but then I think about what would become of super speed strafing... but then I think that doing so would offer a decent alternative to armour tanking.
