Here is what I figured the HMG needs to be effective: 50m optimal range. Increased dispersion (SLIGHTLY, it is currently laser accurate contariry to popular belief, some dudes tested it and proved it) And finally, aim assist.
That's right, I took this weapon to the field and... Either it has little aim assist, or it doesn't have any.
Why: 50m optimal - It's a supressing weapon, if someone isn't afraid of dying from it, it isn't suppressing him. Increased dispersion - Supression weapon. It would not affect it's CQC power, and at 50m most of the bullets will still hit. (It's just a slight increase, since it's currently laser accurate)
And aim assist - Because why the **** didn't you add it in the first place?

Wanting extra range on the HMG is a symptom of us not having any heavy weapons, not of a UP HMG. No it really does need range. DPS is not a factor, it does 600 DPS and unlike what people said, it IS laser accurate. Unless you're using a modded controller, your SCR outputs around the same DPS.

And aim assist - Because why the **** didn't you add it in the first place? So why the change in heart you were so dead set on keeping the AR the same what are you a liberal are something Uhhh... Me acknowledging a weapon needs a buff means I think the AR isn't fine? I think it's at a good place, if a bit overshadowed by the SCR.

Lack of mobility and long reload speed already bring it down, now it needs stuff to bring it up.
AR's in 1.7 will have 70m range, so 50m range for the Minnie HMG being the middle range HMG sounds fair no?

There also needs to be more heavy weapons. Namely a medium range one. It's range is insulting.

It does have 70m effective range, but Cosgar is referring to optimal. Correct.
