Ok I'm looking at the suit now, and it has some interesting facts.
One being that you can get rid of the shotgun and fit another light weapon. So it is possible to run a light weapon and AR.
The stats are slightly better in some areas then it's G/1 counterpart. Namely it has 30 more base shields and a 8.01 base sprint speed while the G/1 has a 7.63 so with max stats the black eagle has 8.41.
Not bad, but I doubt it will make up for the lack of lows. |

I actually like it. Especially as a nice challenge.
No lows? No problem. Just stick to hiding like a typical "scout" (gasp), pick your targets carefully (hello, other scouts!), use short and intermittent bursts with the 'Black Eagle' Assault Rifle to maintain control, and also camp objectives like I usually do.
In addition to what Cody Sietz said about the advantages of the suit, there is also the fact that this is NOT a base frame suit and therefore it still takes advantage of the Gallente Scout Dropsuit skill book bonus towards its scan range. I have level 5 with this scout suit plus level 3 Range Amplification which brings my overall scan range to at least 31 meters. That is just beyond the first circle of your mini map which means you can see farther than an objective can see (which is like 20 meters I think).
Also, I went into several matches with this suit and still managed to get 11 kills total and died only about 4 times overall with the suit.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

Sounds like a lot of the playerbase is afraid to run this suit because they might suck in it. Instead they will be hoarding them for when the open market arrives...where perceived value and relative scarcity determine price.
To recap:
Step 1. Hoard 50 copies of crappy suit that EVERYONE received Step 2. ???? Step 3. Profit
Sometimes I'm glad this isn't a thinking man's shooter...not sure the playerbase could take the hit. |

The "????" is "wait a few years".
When I played Ultima Online, players were awarded gifts for logging in around holidays. It was usually some token that could be used to redeem unique holiday-themed items. The tokens, and the items you could redeem them for, sold for decent prices when EVERYBODY had them, but a few years later when most of the tokens had been redeemed they were worth small fortunes.
The same thing happens in EVE with things like Snowballs/Snowball Launchers and those funky shuttles with the solar sails.
People will pay a ton of money for things everybody received when those things are used up and become rare. |

My Minnie is faster & my Gal scout is tougher than the Black Eagle. My biggest problem with this suit is the lack of a equipment slot, making it impossible to actually function as a scout. Everyone likes to argue that scouts aren't for frontline slaying, yet that's all this suit is good for. & Not particularly better than a dedicated slayer scout build. How about u take on the challenge and prove something instead of creating an excuse not to use a crappy suit. Participate.

Tried them in the past to little success, ran them today to the same results. switched to basic scout suit & started to enjoy myself. These are not scout suits, They're Commandos in spandex. |

Nope. CCP stated the kills have to be with the 'Black Eagle' Weapons that are prefitted on the suit.

The kills have to be from "Black Eagle Weapons" so even switching out to what you are used won't net you new suits. So those who are shotgun and AR skilled will likely do better at reaping the rewards.

I don't know why y'all are all whining. I love the suits, i love the challenge it holds. Seriously - this suit dies faster than any of the other scouts, so you have to be even more sneakier. I have been meaning to try out the shotgun, i love wielding that thing - i still love my sniper better. Of course, i wish it had the Low Slots but still, like Awesome said, slap a shield extender on it and it is golden as black.

It is true that the G/1 is more versatile than the 'Black Eagle' Scout suit, but there is something that the 'Black Eagle' suits offer that other suits of their class currently don't offer which is going commando because you have two light weapons on this scout suit.
But principally I think the point of this event is to see how well we can do with very little offered. All too often we have relied heavily on crutches provided by the low slots in order to win any given confrontation. These suits offer a real challenge in that you are now forced to fight without those crutches anytime you wear the suit. Imagine running around with a regular Scout G/1-Series suit without any of the low slots fitted and no equipment. Would you dare put your gun game to test with that setup? At the very least you have two light weapons to help you out.
Quote: Everyone likes to argue that scouts aren't for frontline slaying, yet that's all this suit is good for. & Not particularly better than a dedicated slayer scout build.
It depends on what they mean by "frontline slaying". If they mean running around in the open in front of your enemies, then 'DUH' of course you're going to die no matter what you have in that scout suit even if it was a GK.0. But if they mean strategically picking out and isolating your target before engaging and make sure you have the element of surprise, then I have to say those folks are wrong to assume that scouts aren't suppose to do that.
I have just completed a few more matches (with my alt of course) in this suit and I often find myself getting more kills and dying less as long as I am carefully picking my battles. I stay in the shadows, use cover, take advantage of the scan range I trained up on and the profile dampening via the Gallente Scout skill book (level 5), and make sure I go for the weakest-looking and more lonely target of any pack and I am good to go.
Of course, I don't go 15-2 with this suit because I am hiding so much that I rarely run into anyone. And when I do run into someone, it is because my scan range has helped me dictate the terms of the engagement and I used cover to my advantage. With this fit, I usually go at least 5-1 so that I can break even with my suit loss.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.
