Once proto is eliminated from Pubs I think we'll find that a rollover system was never needed or a good idea for opening the game up to new players. If the player count plumets then it means the game is bad!!! You get a player base if your game is good, not because said players feel the need to play as not to miss out on anything. This is what happened with Eve Online. There's no necessity or requirement to play, but 60,000 people log in every day because they -want- to play it. This is one of those very few amazing games that you come up with your own motivations and ambitions, there is no campaign and there are no 'lines' to move around - it's all up to you! Exactly, that's the kind of game people stick to in the long run. Because there is no end to the fun (unlike a campain, like you said)

Why waste several boosters on a month of grinding when you can simply opt to not play, then activate a booster once the rollover total is maxed and blow it all out of the park at once?
This is a free to play game. They aren't making any money if you aren't paying for something.
Let them have their profit on that. There are plenty of other legitimate things to ***** about. Passive boosters hmmmm?

Incorrect assertion..... Focusing on SP as a Player Retension Tool is simply a "Crutch". A Game is not defined by your growth...but the journey to grow. As it currently stands this Title is like working an Assembly Line. Once I "Clock Out" I'm relieved that I may finally play other Titles & don't have to see this one for another Week. SP as a Focal Point only leads to Forced Burnout & Server Activity Stat Padding..... This is an unhealthy practice & should be frowned upon.
The Focal Point should be on making this a Game....not a Minigame Side-Job. I'll even suggest a Roadmap Revision for ya:
1. After 1.7 or 1.8, provided the promised Launch Content & Changes are in place (& even before if possible...), getting PvE implemented should be Priority 1. This should alleviate the New Player "Experience" while providing an alternative escape to prevent burnout. "Protostomp" would become less of an issue since you may now join toghether in Cooperation towards a common goal under far less stressful circumstances. As a result you generate New Players at an accelerated rate since you are now opening up to a wider variety of Playstyles. Couple this with solid Tutorials & you strike Gold.
2. Focus on solidifying the link between EVE & DUST. Player Trading/Open Market would be a must at this point to solidify the Link & stimulate the META. Trickle in New Content in drips & drops.
3. Balancing current Content would be a step in the right direction. There would be less QQ over "OP" this & that since you may escape via PvE until the situation is sorted out.
4. Bursts of New Content would freshen things up at this stage of Development. At this point the Community would view E3 & Fanfest Presentations with less Dread & more Head. Establish a more Open World experience over time & the originally intended promise of the Vision will become increasingly opaque.
5. Pats on the back & take it EZ. Get drunk & be merry. Then continue along a magical path of sunshine & lollipop flavored Bacon.
In between each Step I'm suer you will monetize the S**T out of it, so that goes without saying. You're welcome
PS: Delete the Immersion breaking "Magic Grass" BS & fix Large Turret Rendering so I may see past my Treads.....KthxBAI |
