Seen this for a little while now but can no longer ignore as is becoming so prevalent. There's multiple rumors around what causes this (as I never took the time to confirm myself). One thought is sprinting in between firing bypasses the delay between rounds. Another is if you charge up a forge and get in a LAV, the charge will hold during the ride until you find a target to get out and lob in on. No matter the reason, would be great to see this fixed as is a very annoying exploit; similar to the past melee glitch. |

Wrong. A mass driver shoots one round a second. just entering the sprint takes more than a second wasting valuable shooting time. This is a myth you have been lied to.

Wrong. Entering sprint takes a fraction of a second, and timed right (aka programmed into something modded) will clip the firing animation and reset the RoF cooldown. YOU have been lied to.

Thanks for the time spent, Chance. Hopefully with this confirmed, CCP can do something to correct this. |

theres actually a second way to do itas well, but i havnt figured out how to replicate it.

I fail to see how either of these creates a rapid-fire forge gun. Oh, and Chance, anything that requires a modded controller is hardly glitching and is a much greater offense. The fact that you have personally used a modded controller knowingly and with intent to exploit the game pretty much entitles you to a ban.

ACTUALLY, you can do it without a modded controller, its just not as reliable.
and i dont own a modded controller, i have a nostromo keypad that i can program for testing of that nature but i cant actually play with it for the obvious reason that you cant properly map any movement or camra controls to it.
using something to test the function of a bug for reporting purposes is something im well known for. im not well known for running around roflstomping with modded controllers and an arsenal of glitches, as evidenced by the fact that everyone knows me as the ******* with all the remote explosives.
you can replicate it unreliably without a modded controller, and it does work, its just heavily dependant on absolute perfect timing and near impossable to stream multiple rapid fire shots together in a string of shots with the sprint method.
with a rapid fire control you can adjust the timing to get into that very very small timing window more reliably.
dont assume the worst of people, it makes you look like a complete ******* for no reason, and im positive your not really an *******, just angry at the current situation in the game that seems to promote glitching/exploiting/modding.
people like me are nessesary to find ways to prevent those little glitches that alow these things, becuase the people actually using this stuff for personal gain are definatly NOT going to report the exact mechanisms alowing them to do so.
(the rapid fire forge is based off the same glitches that plauge railguns at the moment+a few things that only infantry can do that tank mounted cannons cant, so to solve that problem you just need to fix railguns and that problem will go away) |

as long as you follow the rule of not spelling out replication instructions your good.
unfortunatly i have to confirm its sprint related because theres no other way to diferentiate between the two different rapid fire bugs.
ones the sprint bug, the other is.... well not many people know about it so im just going to call it "the other one"
CCP doesnt have in house testing to the degree where bugs can actually be confirmed and fixed without players doing the work of figureing out how to replicate it.
so really its nessesary to have white hats in the game figuring out how to replicate because its the only way to give clear replication instructions to the devs to get the bugs fixed.

In a sense you were right. With the mass driver it skips the reload action after certain point if you do start to sprint. However it has very little advantage to it. Below i have video proof to show you what i mean.
when the M/D is out of ammo and you reload if you try and sprint before it is at least 75 percent done it will cancel the whole thing and leave your gun with no ammo in the clip.
My personal M/D holds 8 rounds. If i sprint while reloading before it has 6 rounds in the reload action I will have wasted time. Below i have video of myself doing this glitch several times. At most i cut of the animation of 2 rounds entering the clip.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/b9yoxfglt3nl5ul/053.MOV
I allow more rounds to be added to the clip each time before sprinting to give a solid example

were referancing the sbility to reset the ROF cap, not the reload time :P nice work none the less
the mass driver with a 1 second RoF can empty a clip in 6 seconds, with the glitch you can empty it in 3-4 seconds :P doubleing its RoF and DPS |

yep ive run around withauto shotgun and mass driver using turbo controllers..... i dont like the analog sticks on them tho but ya they are pretty effective ive heard devs dont condone the iuse of turbo contollers as eves a pcgame not originally counsel so to my knowledge they are allowed

Their response to the issue of modded controllers during the era of the Tac AR of doom was that 'Cheating ain't cool man.'
I remember the 'aint cool' part specifically, Im guessing at the 'cheating' and the 'man' |

Yeah I timed it and tried what you said. with the assault M/D it takes me 7.6 seconds to shoot 8 rounds. Sprinting between shots made it take me 9 seconds to unload the same clip. Perhaps if the person is very talented at it they could do it with plenty of practice but considering the ROF for the M/D is already quite high i still do not see it being very beneficial to a M/D user.
As far as the other guns go i could certainly see your statement as being plausible. I did notice some animation glitches while doing this so the potential is there.

the whole point of the glitch is to increase its RoF.... if it was taking longer to do it then you were doing it wrong :P
it would ALWAYS be benificial to reduce the time it takes to empty your clip into a target. the exact methods to make it reliable and be able to unload your whole clip in 5 seconds or less are of course... not to be givin out.
i think youve missed the point, mostly becuase you cant replicate it yourself, wich is fine and as it should be. |

No i got your point and understand how it works. I was simply stating that trying it the one time i found it difficult to replicate. I had said that it could be possible with lots of practice. I have tried it several times and the closest i got to actually improving ROF fire was by .2 of a second going from 7.6 to 7.4 seconds per clip which i did not really feel was worth the effort. I agree that if you can replicate it it would be beneficial. I did agree that other guns are far more likely to be able to increase the ROF due to the lower ROF that they have in comparison to the M/D.

the nature of the glitch means that the only gun slower then the standard mass driver that the glitch applys to.... is the breach mass driver :P
the only two weapons that have ever benifited fromt his were MDs and shotguns :P
as for replication, its best left to the computers, hence the mention of it being used in conjunction with a modded controller specifically programmed for the glitch. its really the only way to reliably recreate the glitch in a way that would break gameplay. |
