I've noticed something...
The Lr got nerfed.
During uprising, the lasers' optimals were 65-90 meters, with damage being 120% to shield, and 80% to armor. Immediately after that, at 90.5meters, damage would drop by 90% of it's optimal, 12 for shield, 8 for armor.
Now, damage drops to 86% against shields at 90m, and does around 23% at 91m.
While it's good that damage dropoff was addressed, they lowered it's effectiveness within its' old range.
I will test this farther tonight, but indeed they toyed with the laser, and didn't even bother to tell us.

Just further tested: At 0m damage is 24%, nothing new here Damage slowly raises until 64m, used to be 65 but meh. This is where damage is 120% against shields, 80% to armor Damage remains- until 85m, when it drops RAPIDLY until 90m, where it sits at 12% and slowly drops until it hits 1%, staying there from around 120 until at least 180m
They ****** with the laser, nerfing it 5 meters AND NOT TELLING US!

How long did we ask for a scout buff? Since 1.3 at least! How long were we waiting for a heavy buff? Since its nerfing to hell, and only recently did they even do anything. How long has the av to tank WAR raged on? I don't even know, BUT ITS ON THE LIST. All THAT needs fixing, not screwing over YET ANOTHER niche weapon, and devs ripping down their CCP DUST 514 banner, and replacing it with the soldier from Team Fortress 2, holding an Ar, with the motto "all hail AR514"

I play laser as one of my many professions. Others being plasma cannons, mass drivers, flaylocks, smg's, and ever since chrome- the laser.
Ever since 1.3 (AT LEAST) the laser would be as follows: 0-65m damage starts at 25%, and ramps up until it maxes. 90m, this is when maximum damage is at its limit. At 90.5 meters, damage starts to drop off until 91. At said 91 meters, damage is 10% of the efficiency at maximum range- 12 to shield, 8 to armor. Damage falls off further, at ~1% every 5 meters. Until of course, maximum range is achieved, which is like 190m
So don't you dare, sir, look at me shrugging your damn shoulders saying "seems alright to me" when I DOUBT YOU EVEN USE IT. Anybody who uses the laser more than the occasional "meh i wanna shoot lazors ehehe" and then die in point blank and say "bah **** it, AR ALL THE WAY!"
I'm talking the people who have a fit, playstyle, and method to go with the weapon. Lasers are not fine, never were, and you need to never post in this thread again.

The. Tell me something eh? Why is it i can MELT FACE at 90meters, (and i check the tactical display practically every time i use it) And only recently, when i have started to mentally retain ranges, to the point i don't quite have to loom as much, but i still loked to double check myself, have noticed that RANGE WAS DROPPED?
Ignorant people like you are what makes me angry at times, but then again, where would we be if idiots didn't exist? Yes i called you an idiot. No i don't care what your reply is next time, and i will not reply to your next answer.

I just realized, but the only one disagreeing with me is the one with under a hundred likes? Seems to me someone either trolls all the time, or they have failed to make true statements.
Regardless, i've decided that for the rest of this month, until 1.7 is released, i'm going to run laser rifle as my light weapon. And holy hell yes am i going to glass cannon my minmatar assault or logi so that i melt even more face than i ever did before.
Thanks CCP, you've made me, the most indecisive person in dust, choose his profession: melting face in a minmatar suit.

I'll work on testin that, i believe AA made the laser stay on track for heavies sidestepping at about 70m?

In that sense, they certainly did TRY to fix it, there's a 3m area where you still do above 50% damage. However their method of obtaining this is what annoys me.
What they did was drop the optimal by 5 meters. Effective is still the same. Maximum is still the same. They DID "fix" the problem of sudden dropoff. However the method with which they fixed it was to simply nerf it AGAIN. I originally believed in CCP, seeing as they hired a new EP who knew what he was doing, where instead he's screwing with everything except the holy lamb AR, and dropping TTK even more when the whole time we're complaining about it already being too low.

I'm not going to call you stupid, nor am i going to flame. But i pay SERIOUS attention to numbers. How else would i pull out 85 meters, let alone the 90.5 old optimal? I'm talking uprising 1.3-1.5, after the rrmoval of sharpshooter, and even before the introduction of effective and maximum range. I remember using the laser before the effective range was introduced, the laser still killed out to 90m. And the half meter after that, it would disappear.
So please, can you tell me just how much you used the laser, let alone pay attention to the tactical didplay?

Oh trust me, i prove that little generalist statement wrong. (^_^) But when they start nerfing the only things that can fight AR, is when i get peeved. It has nothing to do with hit detection, as those bullets are spewing left and right and up and such, whereas laser rifle has no recoil. No deviation. Yes the holy lamb ar is nigh impossible to counter. However, i shall continue to refuse that it should stay that way.
Breach shottiez, laser rifles with proficiency/damagemods, sniper rifles, mass drivers, gerrnades, and vehicles are your viable counters to AR. Meanwhile the counters to those counters is AR. For shotguns and laser/sniper, they just have to think for a few seconds and run behind a wall and close up/backpedal. For mass drivers they just have to grow a pair and rush you. For gerrnades they just need spam back. Or hop atop a crate and pop a few peples with Headshots.

^ try staying within optimal on that one. I melt heavies with no damage mods, just gotta stay within 65-84 meters and land headshots.
Try checking damage on the show info, damage across the boaard should still be 17.0

I'm still confused as to why they couldnt have made optimal 65-90 as i is now, and then making effective 95/100. Instead they chose to nerf a weapon NOBODY is complaining about!
When NOBODY is complaining that it killed them, maybe there's a problem? Kinda like the plasma cannon. Kinda like mass drivers as of late they're overshadowed by the assault rifle, and thats a problem.
