The current standard 2500 WP to call an OB was implemented when we only had 4 man squads. There were no WPs for Equipment Destruction, Repping(?), Scanning, etc.
5000 is more than reasonable. That's less <850 WP average per squad member to call 1 OB in a match. Most full squads should still be able to drop at least 2.
And Yes, every member of the squad should get a +10 WP Assist per Orbital kill, not the squad leader reaping all of the benefits of the work that 5 other people put in.

Blah time to poke the devs over this again.
Pros for longer delay between broadcast and firing: allows reactive behavior.
Cons for longer delay: reactive behavior could nullify the OB (especially with vehicles.)
I do believe its a bit too short though right now so a slight bump up would be nice.

Please no.
She doesn't shutup already, if she spoke everytime a sniper has a bead on me, my ears would begin to bleed, thats how annoying she is.
If an Orbital is shot from Orbit (Or even a Warbarge) do you not think something would be able to pick that up and send a warning to ever merc in the area?
Or at least, there is another idea that isn't as "Hand holding", when an OB has been called, the sky flashes (Red for an enemy OB, blue for a friendly), which is then followed by a 2-5 second delay, then the OB hits.

What you want is not faster orbital strikes.
What you want is to target an orbital strike on an actual vehicle target instead of a static area.

So, you'd like a warning that gives everyone enough time to escape? Or in other words, completely nullify OB's altogether.
Also, are you aware that in FW, EVE pilots are now going to be required for OB's? Do you still want nullified despite that?
EDIT: And just for the record, for the most part I feel OB's are fine the way they are. In FW an EVE pilot is required so they should be very effective. And in Public Matches, they effectively are a killstreak reward, which is also fine by me.

Good points about evolution of the game and WP generation. I could see bringing it to 3000 to 3500 per orbital...maybe.
I actually would increase the orbital assist to 15pts per kill, 2pts per equipment.

Orbitals should not be tied to War Points. War Points in general are a fairly bad mechanic that doesn't really have a place, lore-wise.
Some on here have suggested secondary objectives that would begin a timer/accumulate orbital strike points and would be something to fight over whilst not being directly tied to win/loss. In that regard, a team being badly beaten on clones/MCC damage could maintain a hold on the orbital relay and bring in much-needed support. If the enemy team switches gears and moves on the relay, that gives them the opportunity to attack the now less defended NULL cannons.
It's a better way, in my opinion, than arbitrary point allocation. |

Replace "game" with orbital bombardment and you get what orbitals should be like aesthetically and in terms of fair warning.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"
