I'm here asking what keeps you in this broken game.
For me, if it weren't for the fact that I could play my music on my ps3 I would be gone a very long time ago.
Not only that but CCP also owes a lot to their art team. Even though the graphics leave much to be desired the design of the suits and weapons is superb with a serious tone rather then cheezyness like other games I've seen going for a futuristic look.

Because it's not a bad free game.
Why else? I could be playing DayZ Epoch if I had the energy to save for Arma 2 CO and a new graphics card.
But this is free, so I can take the money saving slow.

I don't.
I'll have one more try at Dust but in all honesty I am border to death with dust.
Cal Rail Rifle scout and tanker are my last attempts to try to enjoy dust since Amarr HAV wont come out for years and neither with I get a respec for the content I waited 4 months to play on.

Waiting until new PS3 games, PS4 games or until Black Friday then Dust 514 gets the bench and zero to very little playtime for dust.
And if 1.7 has lasers become obsolete and with no fix or respec then its just delete Dust 514 to make room on my PS3 hard drive. |

I can barely stand to I wish there was something to do besides deploy sometimes I find my self enjoying looking through skills more or just having fun in the chats as I did in EVE. There needs to be different elements to the game alas there isn't even matchmaking is pretty dull and boring =/.

I play because I hope and promise of a better or at least different fps. I fight for my race because I feel that the more I fight the more attached to the lore I'll become. I stay loyal to my corp because they housed me and became friends. Why I did play this game you ask? Everyone must find their own reasons I just happen to find my own.

Because I'm poor and this game offers me a substantial amount of content for a free-to-play console shooter.
Because I'm disabled and need a means of wasting time and escaping from reality.
Because I co-founded a corporation almost a year ago and I feel I would be letting everyone there down if I were to leave.
For the thrill I get when I see people's names show up in a match from pre-Codex.
Because I wish to see each update as it's rolled out since I've been here long enough to see 95% of the others.
Because I've been here for so long... I'm not sure I remember how to play other shooters....
And because I hope to one day see L.O.T.I.S. become recognized by players across New Eden as a force to be reckoned with. I've put almost a year of my life into this corporation after we dissolved U4A and started L.O.T.I.S. with only 6 members. We've begun to branch into several games, but this is where we started and it is in this game that I want us to succeed the most. We're in a bit of a rough patch right now, but I will not stop playing Dust until either we reach our full potential or Dust servers close down.
Oh, and because if I stop playing and they change stuff I don't know about, then watching CCP devs get gang***** on youtube and twitch won't be as funny since I wont know what's really going on..

Been saying ^this^ for... forever now.
As much as the waiting around hoping this game gets fun again, it's worn out. I'm not sure about everyone else but I can't even be bothered to log in most of the time anymore.

I haven't quit playing Dust altogether, however, I did quit playing yesterday after about the 7th or 8th time I died because of hit or miss (literally) HMG hit detection. And I can't even call it a rage quit either... It was more of an apathetic absence... more of an "Oh well... just forget it... I'll go find something else to do." So I went and watched a movie. And I still have a ton of bonus SP left to cap out.
I like Dust. Dust is a fun game. But let's face it, Dust has a lot of issues, some minor, some major, some bordering on the absurd. I can kind of feel myself losing interest, kind of feel myself drifting away. CCP needs to fix and balance a lot of things about this game. I guess I keep playing because I hope that these things will eventually be ironed out. I keep playing because I like my corp mates and the camaraderie. I also like the customization.
And I keep playing because every once in a while you have those great matches where things seem to be working correctly, where both teams seem to be evenly matched, where it comes down to the wire... holding that objective, killing that last clone, that knick of time orbital that saves your butt... Those moments kind of stave off the apathy... just a little. |
