Where are the other turrets? Where are the plasma-cannon or the mass-driver turrets for tanks? One would assume that these weapons have large size applications and would exist as main turrets on some tanks.
I would love to see some real tank battles in Dust 514 akin to some of the stuff I heard about in World of Tanks, with artillery mass-driver tanks waiting on spotters to deliver their next targets location. With smaller tank-hunter tanks prowling, armed with plasma-cannons, moving in to deliver a quick burst before pulling back and rearming.
Scrambler and laser tech is also something thatGÇÖs missing from the turrets selection, weird as these would likely be a huge improving as anti-personal over the current 20GJ (and I hardly ever seen that ion blaster thingy, what does that thing to anyway other than miss?)

That's what CCP has planned, I would say. Don't come up with ridiculous nonsense like "Plasma Cannon Turrets" and "Mass Driver Turrets". What next? "Assault Rifle Turrets"? You use the word 'nonsense', I don't think it means what you think it means. In any theatre of war, they almost always scale up weapons that work well if there are no other limiting factors. Also "Assault Rifle Turrets" are in the game, they are the auto-cannons you find on plenty of HAVs
Mass-drivers would likely be the artillery then, seeing as massdrivers in Dust 514 are propelled grenades.

Ulysses Knapse wrote:I see no sense involved in it, therefore "nonsense". It means exactly what I think it means. Ah, I see. ItGÇÖs merely your failed reasoning. As stated; conflict tends to make people creative with weapons, either scaling up something small, or scaling down something large. The ballista / crossbow a good example.
Ulysses Knapse wrote:They're blasters, not autocannons. Not in the real world, not in New Eden. Semantics, they are as far as I have seen weapons that fire projectiles the same way assault-rifles do, only on a more rapid scale.
Also, I forgot to mention last post. Plasma cannon on a HAV would make sense, seeing as it would be an effective tank destroyer weapon on that scale.

Ballistas use torsion to fire a dart or other projectile. It was developed from the catapult. They look similar, they fire similar projectiles, but they do not use the same concept. Also, the ballista came first. For the love of Leroy...I would say 'Arcuballista / Crossbow then', but it's apparent that you hold no interest in holding an actual argument. It seem youGÇÖre just interested in mincing words and semantics in a effort trying to hide that all you have are opinions, but no solid arguments. You have yet to provide any reason why they wouldn't make larger version of the some handheld weapons, and I suspect you never will.
I choose now to not reply on any more of your comments unless you start providing decent arguments, and not resort to cheap rhetoric anymore.

You must have not faced an Ion Blaster yet ???? Pray that you don't because they will chop you up like minced meat , That's what they do . Ground and Pound and very fast might I add . You don't see them ( and I'm not talking about the Sodom ) because they take a hell of an amount of skill points to obtain . Some people have them and soon you will find out , just don't have your tank out when you do and if you have a Sodom and try to run up against a Scattered Ion Blaster , YOU WILL LOOSE so don't even try it . Just some advice , all store bought doesn't work against skill bought weapons . As far as Mass Driver and Plasma , Scrambler and Laser Turrets , World of Tanks can have them , if you ask me .... leave those weapons in the hands of the Mercenaries because if you place them on tanks then the specialty of those weapons being hand held goes right out the door . You won't see tank battles with massive kill weapons , you would just see more tanks destroyed and more money leaving your pockets , if you drive tanks . You fervour about the Ion Blaster seems almost religious, canGÇÖt say I have resisted them if I meet one. And from what I seen, it seems the pretty standard auto firing cannon most of the HAVs use now a days.
Also; World of Tanks is set during World War II, so not many Mass-Driver, Plasma and such weapons. However, the point I was making was that its weapon selection is bigger from what I understood, from the more conventional tanks most people think about, to the artillery and tank destroyers
There is also nothing stopping the developers from using the same weapon tech and similar play style in the new weapons, but I feel there should be some more diversity. And such, the tank destroyers were armed with cannons the sacrificed range for low profile (to better move and hide) and massive stopping power. Hench I thought a more massive plasma cannon would fit that role.
Artillery launches explosive rounds over great distance, and Mass driver is described in most Dust 514 lore I can find as a grenade launcher. Unsure why itGÇÖs called Mass driver, but as long as there are artillery vehicles, IGÇÖm happy.
