Yay! Now the armor vehicles and dropsuits can be better at the same time, I am going to put this assault cko in the closet for a few months, at least until all the armor is op threads convince ccp to buff shields lol...

Also I don't know if this is just me or most shield tankers face this but...... I cant fit modules on my tank worth a damn, on my Maddy I can fit every slot with a useful module.
On my Gunlogi, which I enjoy sooooo much more, I can barely fit the shield modules, and never have room for the low slots. But yeah the difference in Reps is insane and game breaking when you go up against an armour tank.

I see.... Issue I have is that I can fit the extender and hardeners just fine but once I try for the booster it becomes way too expensive and in the end is not really worth it.
I love how shield can tank swarms like they are nothing I mean 60% hardening and the natural explosives resist is beautiful, but I cannot equip any useful modules like scanners or nitrous without sacrificing a rather large amount of EHP not to mention the two dedicated Local PG enhancers.

The LAV however, is much better off it you go shield.
Armor LAV sucks ass sadly :(. especially since small blasters suck ass.

Aren't shield tanks getting an insane buff to their natural shield regen? Sounds like they'd be much better suited for hit-and-run with small downtime while armor would be able to stand its ground for a while.

Yes but amour get the best sub models, also the shield regen has a big pause after taking damage

One of my first Maddy builds had 3 Heatsinks on it. 2 passive, 1 active.
I could deliver a beat down to a shield tank in about 20 seconds. Just hold R1 until infinity. I didn't have reps or hardeners even, didn't need them, lol.
When I see an enemy tank on the Battlefield, sometimes i still wish I had that Fitting, because it was the best anti-HAV build ever. But couldn't survive AV to save my life, obviously. |

yea you are, tanks are UP in general. sheilds are anti infantry (note: natural resistance to close-mid range weapons like AV-nades and swarms) and armour is anti tank (note: resistant so plasma weapons like rail turrets and railgun). 1, use the tank how its intended, not a all-round tool and 2, tanks are useless right now. nothing but a metal coffin becouse of OP AV |

Not being able to have those things on a shield tank without huge drawbacks are probably intentional. If I'm right which I might not be, Caldari tanks are the best when you keep them at distance and not up close and personal like you'd use a Gallente tanks (obv) in that, having a scanner is probably a waste of a slot anyway unless your fitting the tank outside of its purpose.
When vehicles get reworked shield tanks will once again be the speed tanks so a nitrous booster seems sorta redundant but if you want that a powerplant for your low slot is nice.
At least shield tanks can put damage mods on without sacrificing HP and have a support module on the other side (Power diagnostic unit) but all tanks can't be fitted the same and expect the same results.
As far as PG and CPU issues goes, CCP ****** up big time all around with that. I can't fit the most basic things on my Methana.

Yes, shields are supposed to be the speed tanks, so wouldn't a maddy fitting a nitro be outside of their intended role? The one thing I have always hated about my shield tank is the lack of active mods.
A maddy can fit up a nice healthy wheel of mods to activate, while a shield will still be very limited in doing anything but shooting a gun.
BOTH tanks need to have a healthy dose of active mods that are easily fit. Like freaking nitro.

Makes no sense to speculate.
It will be what it will be and whether or not its worth playing/ skilling into will be decided then in 1.7.

Armor tanks will not be better than shield tanks in 1.7, and this is coming from a shield tanker. Both tanks will have their advantages and weaknesses balanced for the first time since I can remember.
The one thing I don't understand from CCP is why did they make damage amplifiers high power? Damage amplifiers in EVE have always been low power, meaning that shield tanks were better gankers, while armor tanks had better utility (webifiers, points, E-war).
If shield should be hit-and-run in Dust, then they need to have the damage to be able to do that. Giving damage amplifiers to armor vehicles and not shield is going against that philosophy.
