I am someone that cannot be put down by a few losses, it motivates me to do even better as opposed to people who get depressed from getting killed a couple of times.
If not about getting kill a couple of times as you say, is about how you get kill ; - Hit detection / lag - Protobears that are impossible to kill. - Tanks camping an area without opposition. - A turret installation instantly killing you. - Invisible grenades - Magical instant death. Is a very long list, but the bottom line is; Not many kills / death are connected to skills, only about 15% of them, the rest are just bull **** ways to annoy and irritate people to they leave the game. I do go "Aw feck" if an installation snispes me accross the map or i rained upon by core Nades, il go **** **** fuuuucckkk. - Hit detection / lag : i come from PC games, there we have ontop of that Hacks & Aimbots ...compared, ill take Hit/lag any day... - Protobears that are impossible to kill: I am not impossible to kill, but ill at least make the opposing team pay for killing me before i go out - Tanks camping an area without opposition: yeah anoying sometimes - A turret installation instantly killing you: true its a minor setback, it can happen once, 2 times is your fault and they know what they say about a third time - Invisible grenades: you mean pre-cooked nades that ex^plode in your face... - Magical instant death: Headshots ?
You both make valid points. FPS Vets don't really care if they get killed "legitimately" - Getting to brave and pushing into the enemy to far without cover - Trying to out gun a fit that is vastly superior to yours - Simply awareness mistakes - Poor Dropsuit Fitting decisions, etc.
Getting killed is part of the game. When I played Halo, everyone died more than they killed. Very few MLG players have positive KDs. Because you do whatever it takes to win. In DUST, you have to be careful about clone count, which then leads to lackluster/cheap play.
But the "undeserved" deaths in DUST are to many to count. Its got to the point where if I'm not in a top squad, I will pick my battles. I'll check the playerlist at the start of every match, and if I'm on the wrong team, I simply back out. One player can't shut down a full Protosquad in this game.
Recently, I was just in a game against the top Outer.Heaven guys, they were protostomping my teammates, who were all noobs, not in corps, not in squads, and in starter fits. They were scanning religiously, and even two of them were using officer weapons... I got into the the game in the final 3-4 minutes. saw what was happening and whipped out my Advanced SCR fit... I wrecked them. 10 kills in 2 minutes (all of them O.H guys)... maybe had i been in the game at the beginning I would have made them more miserable, but they still would have won by the same margin... 1 vs 6 isn't fun. Using anything but a Profit SCR or AR isn't fun. Being forced to use the exact same setup if you want to succeed in this game makes it boring. |

Yeah, i shold have Sped'd into Gallente scout instead of Minmatar. I was dumber back then. But also, It's kind of hard to tank a scout when YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED appears at the top of your screen every 5 seconds. I forgo armor and switch to Dampeners when running solo with my Shotty now. It works wonders. Coming up behind the team and taking out 10 guys before any of them realize what just happened. |
