Emptied for shots from my Shotgun into the back of a player switching suits at a Depot, only the fifth one counted, but at that stage, it didn't matter, my shields were already gone, and I was pretty much dead.
Swapping suits out should be risky, players shouldn't gain 1-2 seconds of invincibility when swapping suits, it gets rid of all risk involved.

agreed. Using the supply depot should leave you vulnerable.
I watched many red dots exploit the temporary invincibility from switching suits at a supply depot to come out on top when they clearly should have died.
It may have to do with the stupid ninja change where spawning in make you temporarily invincible.

Actually since you're stripping your armor and replacing it I think it should pull your shields and armor to 0/0 for a total time of three seconds while it strips and rebuilds your suit.
If someone kills you mid-swap you lose both suits. |

^ that. Maybe not even that, but remove invulns. People swapping from their proto to a DPS proto and murdering all that come near, or swapping to their cheap AR heavy, its quite annoying

Agreed, also I think there is only 1 map you can do it on and I forgot the name but you can reset the timer for going into the redline if you managed to hack the supply depot behind it in time by switching. I've only done this once though in an empty game which is how I noticed it so don't know how many times you can repeat the process but I assume it's abusable to some extent. |

In that case there should be no protection when you initially respawn either.

We had this once, it wasn't fun either. Spawn and wait 3 secs until you actually had control and get immediately mowed down.
I don't like being spawned behind, it blows, but there are better ways to deal with it. |

Bumping this. I run into it a couple times a day, but had a whole squad doing this repeatedly vs my Minja alt when assaulting them tonight, which prompted me to come check the boards. Take damage, switch to RR Heavy suit, spray'n'pray, switch back to a fresh brick logi. One guy I chased across the map, catching him a few feet from the depot, knife him, he's nearly dead, go for the second to finish... no... third, fourth, fifth swipe... oh wait, he's just standing there cycling heavy suits and essentially taking no damage, I get shot by his teammate who has come over to do the same thing.
Count me in for no invulnerability on swap AND no restored HP. |

Considering you have to get to the depot, stand with your back to any enemies, get the menu open, and pick a suit, there's plenty of risk involved for those who aren't just there to exploit the invulnerability--not to mention you're blind and paralysed during the change.
I think the obvious fix to eliminate exploiters is to force a 20 second delay before you can change suits a second time.

its called loading in... you are already in game so the game has to remove you and reload you back in. kill him before he changes or wait for the suit to change and pop him in the head

Why not remove the ability to swap suits at depots? It seems like that would solve a whole truckload of balance issues. Swapping suits should be a more pronounced risk reward choice.
If we didn't have this feature, we would have to weigh the cost of suicide (and the associated suit cost) against the benefit of the suit being swapped into. "Should I swap into AV to kill that Dropship and lose my 200k ISK suit, or does my team already have enough AV to do the job?" That's a meaningful choice, no?
IMO the only place one should be able to swap loadouts is at the MCC (either in it or below it).
Just a thought. |

My problem isn't the fact they can swap suits, it's that they gain 10 sevond invuln which allows them to mow me down while i am unable o damage them. I've had this happen on EVERY map, at EVERY supplydepot. So it's not a 'unique' occurrence.

Remember, when you take damage, it's the suit itself that is damaged. So it makes sense that you can switch it out for an undamaged suit. However I know players that take advantage of the invincibility time as a critical part of their playstyle, and I don't really like it.
So maybe their should be a small waiting period when you switch your suit where you are vulnerable, maybe 5 seconds or so. It would work like this:
You go up to the supply depot, bring up your list of suits, pick the one you want, and you get a timer and a message saying "Fitting being retrieved" (or synthisised...something cool like that since the depot is basically building your suit from scratch). It could be really intense waiting for that timer to hit 0 with enemies so close :D

Alternatively, make interacting with the depot have the player step into a locker or tube on the side of it (there could even be a cap to how many can do this at the same time?) where the player can safely make his/her choice of loadout. The player then waits 5 seconds while the loadout is swapped, then steps out of the depot. While stepping in or out, the depot projects a shield and armor transfer onto the player (instead of full blown invulnerability), which wears off a second after the player regains control of their character. If the depot is destroyed, its occupants are killed.
On a similar note: CRUs could function similarly, with the player stepping out of the CRU with a remote shield and armor transfer from the CRU active for a few seconds. |

I think the current situation isn't SO BAD, but the invulnerability lasting so much is not funny.
The Depot works like a Drop Uplink, remember that when you ask to allow direct kill. |

I agree. It's ridiculous when it happens. Back in 1.6 I use to run into this problem when I caught this one assault guy by surprise using my Ishukone Nova Knives (about 1200 HP alpha damage) but the dude was swapping suits repeatedly using the supply depot. As a result, each one of my high-alpha hits didn't do any damage. The guy turned around and just mowed me down with his AR.
I sent him a mail complaining about it and he agreed that I should have had him. After all, I got the jump on him first with his back towards me.
