I don't like the changes to militia dropships. To me, the point was to have a cheap ship to practice learning how to control a real dropship- but now, they have "fly assist", and not only does it make it harder to fly once you've learned how to properly control one, it makes them useless for practicing for more expensive ships. Get rid of it please. What does everyone else think of them? |

They don't! Crap, I already flip and crash militia dropships... At this rate I'll never be able to fly better ships.

Oh, do they? I've never flown the non-militia ships. I'm not a real dropship pilot. If they do have stabilizers, then JK ignore my post. Also the MLT stabilizers just got put in on Tuesday, so try them out again- they're definitely helpful if you haven't crashed 50 times getting the hang of it without stabilizers. |

Yeah, the Stabilizers certainly make them a lot harder to fly imo.
I try banking left and it will flop back topside.

stabilizers were put only on the militia ones for feedback. Particularly from non-pilots and pilots alike.
Stabilizers are only supposed to kick in when you're doing nothing at all.

As a non-pilot, who uses only militia dropships, and purely for roof access at the start of matches, I dislike the stabilizers. It seems to me that they kick in the instant I'm not actively pushing the dropship in a direction, when what I really want is to continue doing the move that I started a second ago (generally a banked turn-stop, idk what to call it). Perhaps stabilization could be linked to a setting in the vehicle controls section of the options? If that's not possible, maybe just tune it so that it kicks in after ~3-5 seconds of inactivity. I respect that many new players will really appreciate the stabilizers, because I lost easily 50 dropships learning how to get anywhere at all with them, but now that I've put the effort in to learn, I don't like the computer meddling. |

Or maybe you should just learn to fly. |

Who? Me? Did you even read what I wrote? I learned how to fly, and now (as of patch 1.6) MLT dropships have a stabilizing system that has, to some degree, invalidated parts of my learning. |

How's about ccp give all dropships the stabilizers, but give them a button to turn it on, or off. Similar to how the falcons work in halo: reach. |

as an experienced pilot i like it, it only kicks in once you let go of the controls and it should help new pilots keep level, theres no difference between flying a militia and a standard dropship, it just levels you out if you release the controls, which in the ships for new pilots to learn in is a pretty useful feature.

Me personally i hated the camera change, still do honestly, and now the stabilizer is just handholding IMO. I don't like it. |

Should but don't if your angle is too extreme.

I did some testing with this today.
Bottom line is that if you have no idea what you are doing, if you are just trying to get from point A to point B then the stabilizer is rather nice. It made straight and level flight trivial. I threw the dropship into some severe angles and released the sticks, it was able to recover from all of them (assuming lots of height of course).
On the other hand, if you know how to fly the dropship it makes straight and level flight easier (who does that, seriously?), and makes pulling out of turns easier, but at the same time it has a few drawbacks.
How it works is that if you are flying and center the sticks stabilization will kick in after a second. While i generally didn't find it a hindrance, it did make certain maneuvers more difficult. Dives (forward) and Slide falls (rolling the dropship to slide left or right while dropping altitude) required you to keep twiddling the sticks, otherwise you would start the maneuver, hit the angle you want, release the sticks, second later stabilizers kick in, ending the maneuver.
I also found that during some banking turns i could get the stabilizers to kick in when i didn't want them to. Usually it would just be an annoyance, pulling yourself out of your turn prematurely, however if you are using the turn to bleed speed to prevent running into something / the ground, then stabilizers kicking in can crash you.
