I noticed something interesting yesterday:
When I was testing PS3 XMB mouse setting - High, the radial menus in dust went crazy.

I know you have good intentions, but the problem is not with settings. You can try one million combinations, and the mouse will still feel wrong. Is impossible to find the right settings when the options are not there.
Raw Input doesn't exist in Dust 514, and we don't have an acceleration setup option. Without that two things is impossible to find the "right "settings. Also the dead zone is to wide, and is not a setup option to change it.
Fun is the enjoyment of pleasure, particularly in leisure activities.

Noone else has done this kind of research. I have even looked into UT3 optimal mouse settings for PS3. Most players in the poll seem to have XMB sensitivity high, which might not be the best.
I have also submit a support ticket to CCP asking for help on how to set up this optimally.
Please answer the poll if you have not done so already.
Good night!

Still need more data to figure out the 'best you can do' settings for dust 514. Please take a minute to respond to the survey if you are using a mouse when playing.

Update: I have tried playing with keyboard and mouse in 576p resolution. This gave a significant improvement in over all gameplay, including keyboard and mouse input lag (stuff actually happens when you press the button, not 1 second later).
If you want to see a great example of this, try cooking a grenade in 720p resolution, then switch to 576p (480p for US players) and try cooking a grenade again. You will certainly notice the difference.
I remember that I have read somewhere that the unreal engine 3 the mouse performance is related to framerate. Do not know the exact technical reason for it. I believe it is related to the fact that you cannot syncronize the mouse with the v-sync. I also believe it is due to the fact that the FPS is around 30 frames/s, and the mouse is 100 updates/s. This will cause 'aliasing' (meaning high frequency content such as fast movements are "folded" into the low frequency part of the signal, causing strange behaviours) in the input->display relation by the known Nyquist sampling theorem.

Please keep up the good work, the mouse may have issues but anything positive to inform the community on how to improve the settings is much appreciated
I have since changed my settings From 1000Hz to 100Hz and the mouse is now much faster, odd impact to have
Its the Dust setting i want to get confirmed before i start messing with my DPI I dont want to artificiality slow down or speed up my mouse, thats why i have the option to adjust my DPI, problem currently is the Screen rez is so low the DPI is wayyy down
so im looking to find out what Zero impact sensitivity setting is, default is 60 so is it that, is it 50 or is it 0 100 is way to fast to be zero impact, i expect its 0 but would rather have it confirmed as that feels slightly slow, it feels around 20 (not working) but that could be due to low screen rez
I Support SP Rollover
Why is KB/M being ignored

I have submitted a very detailed question ticket to CCP customer support regarding all of the settings in the poll. I am currently awaiting response from them (as they sent the question to the dev team). This is why the thread has been a little bit inactive. Will finish the guide when CCP has answered me .

I notice huge diacrepencies in my aimin ability in regards to framerate. Not only does the input lag get greater but it definitely feels extremely inconsistent.
I really hope we see something in 1.7 regarding framerate and/or mouse aiming because I've become so fed up with it that I don't even play the game anymore because of it.
Let me play you the song of my people!

Could some people try these settings out and give me some feedback if there are improvements:
1. Set your mouse polling rate as low as possible (100 or 125 Hz).
2. Goto PS3 XMB menu -> AccesSory Settings -> Pointer Speed Set the pointer speed to "Slow"
3. Set your mouse sensitivity to 60 (This is the default value).
4. Set your mouse smoothing to OFF.
5. Tune your DPI setting in the mouse do that you get the correct sensitivity.
6. Report if the mouse feels better in this thread.
I tried this along with switching to 480p, and my mouse is working much more like it should. I can do a 180 turn going from each side of the mouse pad at any given speed and get the same results. Before doing this my mouse would actually rotate the player faster when moved across the pad at a slow speed, and slower when swiped fast. Though my game looks like ****, my aim is back on point. Thank you sir
Also, I had to reduce my DPI to ~105, which is not a normal setting. But hey, whatever works :D
My mouse: Steel Series Sensei, great piece of hardware. Has a little lcd screen on the bottom that lets you configure mouse accel/polling rate/etc. |

You have my thanks. I'll be passing this around. |
