Aero Yassavi wrote:Just to be clear, when you are in battle there are three types of SP being awarded.
1 SP per 1 WP, counted towards your active skill points. This is being tripled.
5 SP per 1 second in battle, this is only obtained when you are in a match and is counted as active skill points and is part of the skill points displayed at the end of the battle. This will not be tripled (foolishly).
1 SP per 3.6 seconds, which would of been gained regardless of whether you were in a battle or not. This is counted as passive SP, and obviously isn't tripled.
Now the problem here is that there are two parts to the active skill points, and only the lesser one is tripled. Meanwhile, the active skill point cap is tripled. So let's break out the math. Assume a match of Skirmish on average lasts 15 minutes, and the average Joe gets 1000 war points a match. So that is
Normal Week 15 minutes * 60 seconds / minute * 5 SP / second = 4,500 SP 1000 WP * 1 SP / WP = 1,000 SP Total SP gained from battle: 5,500 SP Weekly Cap: 190,400 SP Matches to cap out: 190,400 SP / 5,500 SP / match) = 34.618 matches >>> 35 matches to cap out
Triple SP Event Done Properly 15 minutes * 60 seconds / minute * 5 SP / second * 3 = 13,500 SP 1000 WP * 1 SP / WP * 3 = 3,000 SP Total SP gained from battle: 16,500 SP Weekly Cap: 190,400 SP * 3 = 571,200 SP Matches to cap out: 571,200 SP / (16,500 SP / match) = 34.618 matches >>> 35 matches to cap out
Triple SP Even in Reality 15 minutes * 60 seconds / minute * 5 SP / second = 4,500 SP 1000 WP * 1 SP/ WP * 3 = 3,000 SP Total SP gained from battle: 7,500 SP Weekly Cap: 190,400 SP * 3 = 571,200 SP Matches t cap out: 571,200 SP / (7,500 SP / match) = 76.16 matches >>> 77 matches to cap out
Now look, I know this is all SP we wouldn't normally be getting and it may sound like I'm acting entitled, but please leave those pity arguments behind. People want to cap out so they don't feel like they are missing out, but because of the way CCP has implemented this triple SP event, they are asking people to more than double their play time which is absurd! I believe CCP said they only started doing WP only getting counted for bonus SP events to avoid AFK players, but since then they have implemented the AFK kick system and the truth of the matter is that this only encourages people to get a rubber band and AFK anyways. Who has time for 77 matches in one week?
Come on CCP, show us you have common sense! So you're lazy? Because that I am that I seeing when I read between the lines.

Thats 11 games a day on average. Totally insane TBH. You do realize that just spamming matches you can so that in 2 hours a day if not less, depending on how many warpoints you earn in a match. 11 matches a night is not bad considering that a lot of matches last less than 15 each.
I predict that I will be done with this event on Monday night at the latest.

That is a major time investment a lot of people simply do not have. Then play what you can and stop complaining. If you don't have the time to cap, then don't. You don't HAVE to cap to out.

QFT. Aero is correct, this is another grindfest. I run 3 chars, all will need to be capped, 231 matches.... See, this right here ^, this is type mentality that cause all of the crap on the forums.
No, you don't have to cap out three chars, you don't even have to cap out one of them. Play for however long you can and enjoy the game, thinking like you are now will just result in you burning yourself out.

The problem with that is that sp makes you more powerful, also people who are running boosters will feel like their not getting their money's worth if they don't cap As a person that runs boosters I can agree with that a little bit, but i have seen more people complaining that their boosters are wasted after they cap out, then people complaining that they are wasting money by NOT capping out.

Accually this event rewards afkers more than active players Not really, as active play reduces the amount of time you have 'play' the game and can move on with your life. Sure you can AFK your way through it, but you are really just splitting your focus between two different activities.

Arguing against this is without just cause. You are wrong, and it sounds as if you have no grasp of the working world. You appear to have no respect or empathy for those who are clearly more responsible than you, either. I would even go so far as to say you probably have Oppositional Defiance Disorder, as there is no clear motivation for your argument other than to simply argue and be heard.
Thank you for sharing your opinion with the adults. In the future, I would recommend not doing so. So you personally attack me and make grand sweeping statements about my personal life without knowing *NOTHING* about me?
For your information, I also work a full time job and am married, which means that I can't send all of my free time gaming. So I very much so have a very solid grasp on the 'working world' as you put it.
I just have the maturity to not complain when a game company tries to rewards its players with extra experience, even if there is a chance that I might not be able to take full advantage of it (capping out). Many people complain when they cap out that they have no reason to play the game, CCP is now giving them a reason, that shouldn't lead to anger.
I am blessed to be the CEO of a small but very active corp which allows us to have fun while playing the game, making events like these less of grind and more of a party.
For the record Himiko, I am arguing against entitled people how are complaining because the psychological fear loss of SP that is not yet theirs is driving people to anger.

LOL, after playing for nearly a year and capping out all my chars I reckon I would have burnt out before now! Of course you have to cap out, what the point of the SP event otherwise? Also, the cause of all the crap on the forums are those that whine about nerfs/buffs. To me, events like this are for the people who normally cap out and then stop because they aren't being as rewarded as much.
To everyone they will still play just as much, and are further encouraged to do so, but the amount potential SP to be gained.

I predict that I will be done with this event on Monday night at the latest. Vin, that's my estimation too; my math is the same... I'm hoping Monday I can switch to my second character cuz my first will be dry of SP by then. I'd guess at least half on this forum have been in Dust 514 since at least the May release (...guess I need to start calling it EVE Dust 514 from here on, because the game is finally evolving full-blast in that direction). So, I think we ought to be way past some kind of realization that the devs of this game DO NOT want players to build up their "points" quickly AT ALL,... and that they probably (justifyably?) believe that giving us freebies or gifts of ANY amount goes against the "Grind" component that the game's core is built around. So should we really shake fists and request "fairer free gifts"?: A true triple-event like the one we got a few months ago, will NOT repeat more than once every "X" years (or possibly never again). No insult intended, but, why would it? Really. In fact, now that about 6 months have passed and SOME of us can finally brag that we inched through the SP grind enough to have that pinnacle, fully-mods, Lvl 5'd SP vehicle to be proud of...... there's word of replacing SP with "LP" the moment you decide to leave Public Contracts and enter the more EVE-heavy Factional Warfare. OH NOOO!! Step into that room, and how many free Loyatly Points do I think they will start me off with? 10 LP and a radio commercial for more Aurum, maybe. LOL!! Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the grind, but I always know: CCP's impish aim is to line me up for 10 years of grinding, not throw me any bones. And again, I'm cool with that. "Celesta, expect very few, rare real trincates of sympathy. The GRIND is what this game is about." [I can also safely say, the grind component used in Dust is the most intense and ruthless version of grind that I can ever recall in my entire gaming history---the only games I ever played that were as tough to advance through as this one, always did so with "cheat traps" that you couldn't see and couldn't defend against, to "make sure you have to repeat the desert-level 80 times, so you can't reach the end of the game too fast". So I have to say, Well Done CCP for making this game difficult WITHOUT cheating---You played it straight, and gave us a nasty Grind up front, didn't try to hide it. I have to give you respect for that.] Once people starting thinking positively and so doom and gloom things will get massively better. Tripling everything rewards AFKs just as much as active players. This method while crude, rewards active players, and (justly so) punishes AFKers. So AFKers don't have to do much, but they now will have to 'not-do-much' for 3 times as long, where active players will before in about 1.5-2.5 times the normal amount depending on player skill and WP accumulation.
Once I proto'd my (main) suit and all required equipment (I'm a Logi), I stopped caring about the grind so much.
But I have already said, I also head a very active and fun corp so its never really a grind.

You're absolutely right! I don't have the time or patience to cap out even with the cap is 190k SP! CCP, you owe me!! I want all the SP I've missed out on because I don't have the time! On a more serious note, the problem here isn't the event that CCP is putting on. It's the poor mentality of the gamers playing this game. You are looking at this as "I HAVE to cap this week!"Instead, you should be saying, "Hey, instead of only earning 190K SP and then dropping down to a measly max of 1500 per game, I now can earn all the way up to 570K SP before doing that. Awesome, thanks CCP!!"And then you are complaining that we are arguing against your skewed view of the world you choose to participate in. I repeat, You don't HAVE to cap! You can now earn up to 570k SP before capping out, instead of only 190K. Rejoice, for that is pretty cool! If you feel it's now a grind, just quit at 190K like you normally would. Yes! You understand exactly where I'm coming from.

If you are going to have these tedious events at least don't lie in your press releases. How is that lying? If anything it is a little unclear, the Passive that they are talking about could either the passive SP from battle (which is what I thought) or the general passive sp (which will never be altered by ccp).
