Known as the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS), the USA is developing its own dropsuit.
http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2013/11/05/erin-pkg-starr-idea-iron-man-suit.cnn.html (Link for verification or just Google it)
Some of its key features
- It repels bullets (I'm guessing through armor plating, not shields) - It will have exoskeleton like components to augment the soldiers strength - It will have a HUD in the enclosed helmet - HUD will connect to a "TACNET"
Personally it isn't shiny or gold enough for my tastes, but baby steps. Hey we already have lasers and rail gun tech, the US can go either the route of the Amarr (PLEASE GOD) or the Caldari.

Currently everyone is Minmatar.
I know the US is working on and may have deployed a few laser systems on warships (the Airborne Laser - ABL was a bust). I know the US is also working on rail gun technology as well. The Navy possesses a functioning rail gun, but is looking how to miniaturize it to place on ships.

If you're talking about the exoskeletons that they are using for cargo movement and movement of people in nursing homes, I've seen it and it is quite impressive.
As far as the link I posted, the exoskeleton that the man uses to punch the plank is not TALOS, it is an example of the technologies that will be incorporated into the suit. I believe TALOS is the CGI rendering that is shown in the beginning, as of now I don't think there is a prototype of the actual suit.

This made me laugh a tad harder than I should have.

Because *in squidward voice* "FUTURE!"
@ the guy talking about the Trojan Body Armor, I saw that on Discovery channel once and pretty much drooled over the couch.

I've been waiting on rods from God for awhile now, who doesn't want tungsten rods hurtling in from orbit?

Advancements and testing must have went well for the R and D department. They always tell you news that are years late as if they just started when they've been working on this for so long. I know this is a typical thing to say, but the SR-71 blackbird is a great example of this. Skunk Works was the greatest shadow R and D the world has seen to this point (or knows about at least) Also, the Blackbird was an amazing machine, wish its successor, the Aurora Project, was more opaque than just whispers in the internet.
Actually check CNN, it's been in the news that Lockheed Martin is currently working on the SR-72.
