list of current railgun specific bugs
- Heat improperly displays and disapates causing both shots with no heat build up AND shots that instantly overheat despite either firing way past the overheat amount for the first and way under the overheat amount for the latter
- visual range for infantry is as low as 20m
- Visual range for instalations as low as 80m
- Visual range for vehicles as low as 150m
- shooting causes everything to de-render
- small turrets have a higher visual range
- railgun occasionally decides its going to shoot duds, the firing animation and heat build up occurs but no projectile is produced, if you stop firing it doesn't fix it, it persists for entire games at times.
- there's a chance even if you DO manage to shoot you will get the blue shield and not do damage
- apparently your shots can phase though objects now and fail to hit large turret installations
- i have personally encountered enemy infantry suddenly rendering less then 5 meters away from my tank in an open field without cover.
the weapon has been completely broken for 6 months now and im kinda curious why this isnt actually being acknowledged by anyone. |

threads pointing out mundane things that arnt even bugs get blue responces within 15 minuites, a problem thats exsisted for 6 months and has a 1000 reply petitiion not for a fix but just a blue post about the topic gets ignored for 3 months. |

I really like the fact that the Devs have been unable to replicate the draw distance problems. If they are debugging on PCs using Unreal 3.* that would explain it well enough. Or only running on debug consoles that have twice the memory.
The fact of which may have slipped their little Dev minds. Most likely because they have ... (wait for it) not enough memory!
The latest fix was supposed to address some of the turret viewing issues. While they are not as bad in some cases others have not only not gotten better they still are not acknowledged by CCP/Shanghai. |

ive brought this up a few times in threads and once in IRC
no responce on that either.
only posts we ever got about the rendering issue was the original "Working as intended this is standard in FPS games" speech at the begining of uprising (im not kidding)
only responce devs are alowed to give right now is "not my department go poke community reps", and since this isnt facebook you cant actually poke a community rep.

Get video footage use an editor to slow down and highlight examples of horrible rendering and what not. Show them the issues. besides if there is video we can submit it as support tickets everyday until someone gets mad and finally does something. & months is long enough.

Any camera will do as long as it has a decent resolution. Any iphone 4 or higher should do just fine. Sadly i only have a 3gs so it is very difficult to capture good quality video.

Having same issues played PC vs AE tonight they took E our home point on bridge map and I on the hill by E could not see the turrets or any of the infantry all over the point. I used to be able to see the infantry and wreak shop from here even able to pop enemies coming from A (bridge) now nothing. I request CCP set up a few matches with a couple corps to gather data and see first hand these issue I would love to show you guys this is major issue.

1. It could be that installation was firing at an enemiesGÇÖ installation or objective but was blocked by some obstacles. Could you take a picture of the location so we can verify if it is a known issue. 2. Do you mean you used railgun to shoot at infantry and do no damage? 3. Do you mean you shot an installation with large turret and the projectile passed through the installation?

Care to make any comment on the rendering issues too? The disappearing targets and invisible infantry men shooting swarms at you while trying to figure out where "where did that come from and who's shooting at me?" while driving a rail tank. |

about the railguns doing no damage, tank mounted railgun ocasionally just wont do damage no matter what you shoot at, instalations, infantry AND enamy vehicles, no interviening LOS blocking terrain involved as well you have to get within 50m to see it in the firstplace :P in the case where shots seemed to phase through objects it was on a new map with two turrets one in front of the other LOS wise, shooting at the one in front ended up destroying the one behind without doing damage to the first, shots were aimed at the main body of the turret, at first i diddnt think i was doing damage so i was just aiming at various parts, eventually the turret behind exploded leaving the turret in front still un damaged. no pictures available.
as far as shooting duds, again large tank mounted railgun, firing animation with no projectile being produced, no damage is ever done and it doesnt matter what you shoot at, how close it is, even in places with clear LOS (again you have to get within 50m to be able to shoot anything anyways so all the terrain is clearly loaded)
these issues are all nearly a year old.

rendering is working as intended, its a feature not a bug. CCP is not alowed to comment on the topic |

The turrets in general are broken. For blasters when i walk close to them sometimes they shoot some times they don't and i'm a level 5 scout with level 5 dampening that uses a complex dampener. For railguns there really broken that in most matches i'll see them shoot at the null cannon if on the opposite side. For missiles they only work if its maned or your shooting at it.

Each Verified 29 11 in the list above I actually witnessed on that date.
I have been able to get the rail gun to start firing again, only in Installations, by shooting at something, anything else until you see explosions (such a rare thing these days). Then the turret will work once again. I have had similar experiences with my Rail Particle Accelerator although it isn't consistent nor is the fix. Often I will just have to retreat and find something that the gun will work on.
Messing with a module (normally one might believe that using a module but in DUST it is merely messing with) will stop the large missile turret in a tank from firing. The only fix is to switch seats away and back to the main turret. Hard to do when Blue Belles have invaded your tank.
In addition, how about a missile turret that appears less than 90m after it starts firing at me. Which was fun since I was shooting at a different turret and needed to finish it off before returning fire from the Invisi-Turret (tm CCP). On 28/11.
A little depressing to a retired software developer that was proud to ship products that worked and ran QA departments that only released products without code that breaks the basic functions. Like being able to see a freaking target since Uprising was released. Remember 14 May, 2013? A sad, sad day.

They claimed some time ago that they had solved the (unacknowledged) draw distance cut off problems in tank turrets. Okay, except for all the other problems that are still there and have not been acknowledged either. Oddly enough not seeing targets was still there (see above).
This is DUST by CCP/Shanghai. Until the patch (which ever one it is) is released, tested and the fix is actually there ... I don't believe it.
Very simple really. |
