I dont think you be able to kill someone by shooting him in the feet! I saw this guy hacking a supply depot and I shot at his feet from the other side and killed him. I know I got the kill, but next time it could be mine getting shot at my feet and dying! |

There parts of the whole , just like the head for headshots . I love doing what you did when I see someone hacking and just can't get a clear shot while sniping . ( normally I spell it with two p's and I think that's wrong ) Sorry for the misspelling error .

I know I got the kill, but next time it could be mine getting shot at my feet and dying! I have no problems with this system. You should be able to die from a limb hit. Keep in mind that the reason we die is not because our vitals are hit, but because our suit is breached. Also, this is a game. I am slightly disappointed that getting shot in the foot does just as much damage as being shot in the chest, but I'm okay with it.

That being said....

Why do you guys want to give away all the secrets? Once I discovered it, I definitely used it to my advantage. If you had to run the extra distance to get behind them and shoot them in the back, they would probably complete the hack. If you feel guilty, shoot them enough to make them disengage, then kill them in the more "honorable" way. :) |

But you better do it quickly before the game lags . I had that happen yesterday and I unloaded on this guy while he was hacking , it did nothing and I just watched the bullets bounce off this person and a Heavy with a HMG just came behind me and offed me like it was nothing . Now I would shoot you in the toes and fingers ( even your hair and eyelashes ) if it will kill you .

You should simply do 5-10% less damage to non-vitals, e.g. legs below the knees (your femoral arteries being ruptured means very, very quick - and painful - death) and arms.

What if the pressure (gravity) or the atmosphere was totally unsustainable for human life? Perhaps the suit is the only thing providing us protection from the toxic air on the planets we fight on, and preventing us from being crushed to a pulp if we walk around under the extreme pressures. Would certainly explain why there's nearly no green on the maps, and no water/animals.

This is actually quite simple. I know CCP possibly could have messed the idea in peoples heads by putting small plants into the battle zones but probably 90% of the planets we are on do not have an atmosphere with breathable oxygen. This is one of the main reasons the dropsuits were made was to protect against the harsh environment.
Thus if you shoot at a persons legs clearly their shields deplete, but after that you open up a rift within the suit that prevents as much of their breathable oxygen from getting in, that small lack of oxygen plus the fact that your feet legs just got a round of bullets shot through them could cause you to collapse, then after the (30 seconds?) of you being down, the hull of your suit collapses internally causing your clone to die, or to bleed out.
Same goes for arms.

The devs have mentioned at various times that our current suits are for temperate use only and different suits will be needed for different atmospheres and hostile environments. I think the simplest explanation is that we commit suicide once a limb becomes rendered useless. |

Our suits being breached is not the actual reason. Deal is, that a single shot from a Scrambler Pistol can destroy a person's arm, and that's just the guy that fires it without a suit on. Imagine what would happen to an unprotected person's body.
Quite horrendous.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.
