Before everyone goes on saying Quote:then everyone could be able to use them to their hearts content without repercussion of losing them or some other nonsense, id like to bring up some things about the officer weapons status once the player market becomes reality here.
1. Once the player market becomes reality for dust 514, officer weapons will no longer be attainable from salvage, they have never been able to be bought in the artificial market with ISK.
2. Once the player market comes, the amount of officer weapons currently in existence (say about 1000 through he entire community) will be all there is, no more will ever be given or attained, the only way to get one would be to buy from another player.
3. Once the officer weapons get used up by combat players, they will no longer exist outside the collectors (im a collector) who wont sell their officer weapons away.
4. When the very last officer weapon is sold and used in combat, they will never be seen again.
So, i thought of something:
Make one of each officer weapon in our inventories a blueprint, BUT not a blueprint we can equipped into our dropsuits. Instead, make it a manufacturing blueprint like in EVE online, where blueprints are used to create amounts of equipment depending on the amount of resources available to the manufacturer.
Do the same to the officer weapons.
Ex: i have 50 Balac's Gar Assault Riffle, i would pay 100M ISK (or somewhere around there, it cant be too cheap to where everyone could do it, and it cant be too expensive to where rarely anyone would have them) for ONLY ONE of my officer ARs to become a blueprint, i cant pay another 100M to create another blueprint of the same weapon, that blueprint would then be stored in my blueprint inventory where i can keep it until i have a way to get recourses from EVE online and create my own supply of them and sell them at my price, however the amount able to be made at any given time should be limited so they would still be rare.. the other Balac's i would own would be sold off and used up in battle.
this can also be done for all the officer weapons in the players storage.
This way the officer weapons would still be a rarity but never cease to exist and people could be suppliers.
any thoughts? suggestions? trolling?

the best way i would be set up is that these would only be in the hands of the players who can afford to make the blueprints, and they would only be allowed in PC battles.... which i haven't thought of how this would work.

Now what's wrong with the current system where everyone has a even chance of getting them.
I mean i am all for the rich getting richer idea, but as i am looking forward to the future of dust and the new guys coming in i do feel like this will f*ck them because they will have to buy from the rich vets inorder to get a officer weapon.
100mil to get an Officer BPO is not a much as you think it is, i would have one of every type of BPO and i don't even play PC, the guys who do and are higher up in their corp hierarchy pocket billions from corp wallets. so 100mil for a BPO is nothing to them.

i just thought of this, im still trying to get a hang of how it should really be done. there will be a fear of loss, you cant use the blueprints i already said, you would have to pay ISK for an eve pilot or dust player to manufacture it and then be able to use it, and if your killed in battle with it, you lose it and have to pay for another.

in EVE online player market, only the richest corporations, pilots & CEOs can afford to get the highest skill ships and weapons available.

I get this sneaking suspicion that your impression of how salvage in public matches works is a bit off. Officer weapons have a very low drop rate in this context, but new ones are generated.
When the player market hits, officer weapons will be enormously expensive because of high demand by high paying customers (people who play PC potentially have a lot of excess ISK lying around) combined with low supply. Officer weapons won't, however, run out or become collector's items.
If you're indicating that there might be a need to have BPO's of officer gear in the sense of Eve Online's BPO's at a point in time where items in Dust are actually player manufactured, I'd say that's definitely a somewhat interesting discussion. Overall though it's rather academic- Eve has more than enough infrastructure to support distributing BPC's by the normal routes CCP uses to introduce items.

First off this is a stupid idea. Making such super powerfull weapons unlimited (read free) would massively unbalance the game. If I had a BPO of a Balac's I would use it every single match. I would rain rounds that do more damage than a duvolle down upon you from my 72 round mags at rates that would make you cry. Just imagine what the 30 mil sp players would do with them. No one should have permenant anything above basic level since it is simply too imbalancing.
To follow this up thinking that the player controlled market would mean an end to salvage is stupid as well. In even you find officers equipment through salvage and they have a fully player run market (with the exception of certain items that is). Salvage mechanics are going to be a part of dust for the rest of the game and that is going to be the only way you can generate new officer's gear.

Officer equipment has never had a BPO in EVE so i doubt they will be in DUST. I think there will just be other ways to get them when the FW changes come in as well as PvE options for us to participate in too. i'd much prefer if the bpos we have could be manufactured and sold/traded it would add a bit more income for individual mercs who could build miltia/std stuff for noobs |

this is on the terms of what i was going for, i read somewhere in the fourms a month ago that officer weapons will no longer be attained through salvage, so i thought of this to counter the extinction of the officer weapons in case that was going to happen.. other than that, it would be best suited for when the player market is completely integrated where everything is made and bought by players.

that's how it is in EVE Online, people control the supply for equipment and when the demand is high they make a profit, nobody cares about the poor newbie pilot who doesn't know how the economy works.

To be fair I got bored after the first few paragraphs and just wrote an inflamitory reply based upon what you seemed to be implying. What is the point if you can't equip them? Just to hang them on your wall?
Also, you're still failing to address the core issue here that your assumption of officer's weapons being removed from salvage is flawed. Saying you think you saw it somewhere isn't going to cut it. As you know we demand facts not meaningless spectualtion (unless you're D Legendary Hero that is).

Naw. I'm an adult who knows how much boring text he can trawl through before throwing in the towel. Lets be honest, most of the stuff said on this forum is stupid and predictable. It just so happens I treated your post as such when it might not have deserved it. I apologize if I hurt your feelings by not reading everything you wrote and assuming your post to be something that it was not.
You're still deflecting by the way. With zero evidence to back up your initial claim that officer's weapons will be removed from the game the rest of your post is invalid.

What's considered extremely powerful Officer-grade weapons now could be considered MLT grade in a few years' time.
By then, CCP better have a way to separate new players (for long enough - 100,000 WP) from those that have been here since the start.
Teamwork for thee, but no teamwork for me, such is the motto of the anti vehicle infantry.
