Currently officer gear means next to nothing to me personally, other than an isk boost once the player 2 player market opens up. One reason for them meaning nothing is the sp requirements, having to get operation level 5 and proficiency 2 or 3 (which ever it is) to use them means I basically never get to use which ones I do own.
The second reason for no meaning is the fact that there are only officer weapons, why can't we have modules and equipment. Maybe even vehicles, although these would be a pain to balance against isk variants.
What I'm trying to get at is the fact the officer gear in its current form is nothing more than a free toy for the Dust elite. That allows them to add even more stomping ability to their proto fits. Without an sp requirement and modules and equipment versions thrown in, Officer gear could become a little gift given to the player every once in a while that allows them to gain a slight boost to a select fitting for a death or two. Or just something to sell on market like they are currently for most people.
I'm really hoping people like this idea as officer gear is just a dull and boring section of Dust that most don't get to play around with right now,

Too Melchiah ARANeAE, what exactly makes officer gear hardcore PvP only. By that logic people should be using only officer weapons and nothing else in PC. (no proto)
Anyway people use officer gear in public games so why not allow the newcomers do the same. Let them defend themselves from the griefers with what they received through salvage no matter how much sp they have in total
And if you're thinking officer is a god mode weapon your wrong. There not that much better than proto, other than the AR variants and thats just because of how the AR is balanced to the other weapons
