Does anyone know the current following distance to which swarms are set? I am not talking about lock-on distance. After running several matches it feels like swarms fizzle out at the bounds of the lock-on range; 400m. CCP has only discussed changes to the lock-on range so I assume swarm following distances are going to remain the same. Who knows, we may see a return of the Chromosome days when Swarms would follow you around the map after they locked on. I jest CCP.

currently swarms go about 400 meters, they lock to 300. later, swarms will go about 400 meters, but lock to 175.
people seem to be getting confused about lock distance and actual distance the things can go. basically, they'll never miss again, ever. |

I don't know the ranges off hand, but I can say the new lock-on range is going to do wonders to encourage new dropship to dropship combat. If your AV guys on the ground can't take out a pesky mobile spawn platform then you have to take to the skies with your gunnerbros to push him away.

Tell me how far that'll get you Mr. Pirate. I do agree it takes a lot of finesse and gunner to pilot communication in order to get your placements steady. We need more of that kind of interaction.
I just like to think of the jolly times ahead.

Hence the proprietary Bastard tech: The Ramship. for the low low cost of a militia derpship, militia shield and afterburner mods you too can **** off anyone who made the mistake of skilling into the great flying pinatas. it's faster, easier, and technically safer than actually trying to shoot down/have a gunner shoot down an enemy dropship(I have never gotten shot down in one!) |

But wait, if you call within the next 30 seconds we'll throw in a complimentary LAV RDV dropoff at little to no extra cost. Perfect for those 'trollrific' times when an Assault dropship is accosting you on the ground and you need a way to instakill him without any AV weaponry of your own. Bound to cause 100,000 impact damage with a single cloaked broadside strike. You'll live to fight another battle and receive hate mail for the next few months.

oh those are just funny. still remember a time that I called for a tank, and the thing dropped it from about 50 meters up(guess when the RDV drivers aren't drunk they just like screwing with us) at the exact right time for it to hit a dropship(friendly). I wish I had the ability to record for crap like that. |

Yeah, I never really thought about it that way. You'll never miss, but you have to be in a pretty darn good spot with a few other AV buddies to take down a ship. The only time you'll ever be in serious danger is if you're going to pick up bros from a hotzone.
