while messing around with heavys and such, i've found that the FG is basicly a giant shogun if used on the field. i'm prety good with aiming with a shotty so most of my hits were landing when the enemies were only 10-20m away, and if they went further away i still had no trouble hiting them.
some maps have hallways and thats literally a perfect place to setup camp, as soon as someone ups round the corner, blast him in the face with your FG. great area denial weapon seriously. working in a squad is better though as it akes you time to get a shot off. also the love that comes from one shotting protogeared dudes and dudettes was heartfelt.
I feel like i'm unwanted when i do this

The mass driver..it's basically a giant shotgun that direct hit you and explode in a large radius if you miss...the large railgun turrent, it's basically a giant shotgun that shoot you from far away from a heavily armored vehicle...You see, the properties of a shotgun gun can be applied anywhere as long as you keep perspective.

MD's require no skill, railguns get blown up 1m into the game and by shotgun i mean literally how close you would get with a shotgun.

This gives me an idea for the rooftop forge gun problem. It might not be technically possible, but have different falloff ranges for vehicle targets / infantry targets. Basically, make the forge gun act like a railgun when it hits vehicles, and more like a shotgun when it hits infantry.
The idea being that beyond a certain range some cloud of deadly particles has bled off of the projectile. It'd keep the FG deadly up close and give it more than one use without making it overpowered on certain maps. |

Why call it a shotgun at all if it can do none of that stuff? I mean...that stuff is awesome.

Except forge guns and shotguns in dust are both 'hybrid plasma/blaster' weapons, the only real difference is that the forge gun charge retains coherency out to 300m |

This is patently false. Forge Guns are hybrid/railgun, not hybrid/blaster. Here is the relevant devblog as proof. |

my persepctive on the fg.
i think the reticule might be off for it.. because ive fired at targets with them right in the middle of the O and missed.
so it could either be that or there is dispersion to the gun.
so my proposed idea to help those who hate fg doesnt involve the fg. it involves adding a little railing over all the extremely high buildings so they cant fire the "blapmachine" at random things on the ground.
lower buildings that are easily reachable with a scrambler pistol or other weaponry should remain unaffected. |

Forge Guns have much more in common with Rail Gun Turrets and Charge Sniper Rifles than Shotguns. The Shotgun for the big guys is the Shotgun. |

Its good for short-range - medium-range combat. If you get hit directly with it you'll take a hefty hit. Just maintain your distance, because they only have 6 rounds before you get an opening to move in and kill them. Always move as well, as MD takes some time before it hits, allowing you to judge where it falls as you can run away to not get hit directly. |

Ishukone, Kaalakiota, Wyrkiomi, and Lai Dai are all Caldari megacorporations. Gallente firms include CreoDron, Duvolle Laboratories, Roden Shipyards, and Allotek Industries; I believe the later is a subsidiary of Roden, but don't quote me on that since I don't know for sure.
Minmatar companies include Freedom something-or-other, Boundless Creation, Six Kin something-or-other, Core Complexion, and Thukker Tribe. The latter is actually both an ethnic group of Matari and a corporate interest.
Lastly, the superior Amarrian companies include Imperial Armaments, Carthum Conglomerate, Viziam, and Khanid Innovations. |

Forge Gun = very long range, perfect aim necessary to hit (from the ground), pinpoint accurate Shotgun = very short range, wide hit range, somewhat inaccurate HMG = very short range, wide hit range, somewhat inaccurate
Two of these things are similar...

My apologies, your post implied- IMO only- that you thought the Forge was a Gallente weapon because it was manufactured by a Gallente company.

Why yes, they are indeed, since both the Shotgun and the HMG have broken hitreg. |
